June 12 (UPI) -- Firefighters in California conducted an unusual rescue when a crow spotted struggling high up in a tree turned out to be entangled in sewing thread.

The Orange County Fire Authority said Truck 56 responded to a report of a bird in distress near the top of a Ladera Ranch tree on Tuesday.

Firefighters ascended the ladder and discovered the distressed crow was entangled in sewing thread.

The Fire Authority shared a video of the rescue on social media.

"We can't translate what the crow is saying, but we do know the kids' cheers mean they are happy the firefighters on Truck 56, located in @RanchoMissionV, rescued a crow that was entangled in sewing thread in a tree in Ladera Ranch today," officials wrote.

I once saved a crow tangled in fishing line hanging from a utility wire.

We were surf fishing a few years ago and a stupid seagull dived in and swallowed my wife’s bait. It was not a fun time trying to disengage the seagull after we reeled him in...........

Did that trolling for Bonita out of Ensenada in the 50’s.
The deck hand cut the line rather than attempt removing the hook.

Poor Crow, all tangled up & feeling blue.
Though, I’m not sure I would have been the one dialing 911 about it.

You can be sure, that particular Crow will never forget the faces of the people who freed him. He will communicate this knowledge to all of his pals, too.
I’ve always heard that Crows are very bright, and have a tight memory of people or certain features of that person in that location.

Does that show that cows can fly—or that cows can’t fly?

With enough power, even a cow can fly.

they are so bright that they have figured out that cars crush things like nuts- so they drop things liek walnuts, or whatever the area had on roadways, wait for cars to run over them and collect them when the traffic slows down

also they will remember faces for many years- and be able to pick them out of a crowd and either sound an alarm, or tell others that the friendly person is back- etc—

That’s one of the very few Bob Dylan songs I like.
The ballad told with a guitar’s strum. The double voice overlay.
I have always enjoyed that recording, since I first heard it. Back when Melissa Manchester was queen of the radio hits.
