A Poor Reason to Be a Trump-Hater
American Thinker ^ | 14 Jun, 2024 | David Carlin

What does education have to do with it?

People who emphatically disapprove of Donald Trump — in short, Trump-haters — are likely to be college graduates, whereas people who are quite devoted to him — Trump-lovers — are likely to lack a college degree.

This differential is commonly used by Trump-haters to argue that they are right and the Trump-lovers wrong. “After all,” they contend, “if we’ve had more years of education, especially higher education, it follows that we are smarter than our less educated rivals, and if we are smarter, it follows that we are far more likely to be right in our evaluation of Trump and his fitness to be president. It’s obvious, isn’t it?”

This is essentially the same argument that has been used for decades to “prove” that abortion is morally justified. “We pro-choice activists are usually college graduates, often with degrees from the very best colleges and universities, and we commonly have professional careers, whereas anti-choice activists are commonly nothing better than high school graduates and stay-at-home housewives. How could a housewife from Smalltown High School know more than a professional woman from the Ivy League? Don’t make me laugh.”

Granted, college graduates are more likely than mere high school graduates to have better information about natural science and history and psychology — but does this make them better qualified to elect a president of the United States? That is far from certain.

In 1936, it is almost certain that college grads preferred Alf Landon, the Republican candidate for president, to FDR. In those pre-Gallup days, think of the famous Literary Digest poll of its readers, who were far more likely than the average American to be college graduates. The poll seemed to show that Landon would win an overwhelming victory over Roosevelt.

The poll discrepancy between college graduates and non-graduates is more related to accepted mannerism, than intelligence, when it comes to Trump. Despite his business success, he has a brash attitude that you either enjoy as unique and authentic, or find juvenile and naive, which is often based on how many years you spent in college having to carefully follow the rules for normal success.

“... we are smarter than our less educated rivals...”

I don’t accept this. They are not more ‘educated’ .... rather they have more energetically and unreservedly accepted Liberal indoctrination all along the ‘educational’ path they chose.

In college, they were laughably obvious in their naive and unquestioning acceptance of the Liberal agenda. They cannot detach their thinking from emotion and that stunts their reasoning to the point that their views, decisions and conclusions are purely personal, immature and flawed.

As a Conservative, most of the Trump people I know are themselves very educated. More significantly, they possess the indispensable element of common sense… without which, NO amount or kind of ‘education’ means much!

Smarter don’t think so. Those that decided not to college were better off four years after high school working and starting families then those that spent four years getting worthless degrees and hundreds of thousands of debt that they may never pay off. So who is smarter?

Piffle! These people are not any ‘smarter’ - they’ve just had 4+ more years of BRAINWASHING than those without college degrees or those holding Tech School degrees.

But, try telling THEM that, LOL!

Those with the most education are least likely to know what a woman is. That tells you all you need to know about the type of “education” they got.

I attended college in my 30s.

It was the best thing I ever did.

No indoctrination for me and I helped the younger attendees see how they were being manipulated.

I liked my college years.

The educated elites are like overly-inbred, pedigreed, pampered poodles.
They are educated beyond their capacity to understand and/or think. Oh, fer sher, they know where to piddle and poop.
But are completely askance at actual science and economics and the serious things in life.

Lord Halifax and a Labour coalition urged Churchill to make a peace deal with Hitler after France was defeated in May 1940. This is the best deal you are going to get, they told him.

And were more financially able too shell out the required amount of money to buy a degree. It seems that if you paid, you got a degree. I don’t think I know anybody who flunked out of college. I guess there are some; I just don’t know them.

The majority of college grads in the US today are in no way intellectually better than high school grads

If this is an accurate example, it makes you wonder how they even "graduated" high school. But seeing as they got into college, it shows there are no longer any admission standards. I wish this guy would have asked them their majors. I'm willing to bet most are education majors.
