Embattled conspiracy theorist Alex Jones this week asked a federal bankruptcy court to liquidate his personal assets to help him pay out the $1.5 billion judgment levied against him for his repeated defamatory statements about the 2012 mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, including his false claim that the tragedy was a “giant hoax.”
The move comes after the families last weekend filed an emergency motion in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas asking the presiding judge to order Free Speech Systems the parent company of Infowars, to sell off its assets and put the proceeds toward paying out the families Jones defamed. In the motion, the families argued that Free Speech Systems has “no hope” of coming up with a reorganization plan and has “failed to demonstrate any hope of beginning to satisfy the Connecticut Families’ claims.”
*** In his latest filing asking the court to convert his Chapter 11 bankruptcy into a Chapter 7 liquidation, Jones said there was “no reasonable prospect of a successful reorganization” of his debt. While Chapter 11 bankruptcy would allow Jones to retain control of his assets and create a debt restructuring plan, the increased administrative costs ultimately come with “little benefit” to Jones going forward, the document states.***
Under a Chapter 7 liquidation, a court-appointed trustee would oversee the selling off of most of Jones’ assets, ***The process would likely force Jones to sell most of his personal property, including his right-wing conspiratorial empire Infowars. He would not have to sell items exempt from bankruptcy proceedings, such as his home and personal vehicle, among other things.

Ultimately, it means that “ownership in Free Speech Systems is going to get sold,” Avi Moshenberg, another attorney representing the victim’s families told the network.

The bankruptcy trustee would not permit this.
Let’s hope that these “victims” get some splash back.
Highest bid to purchase Infowars would need a CIA type influx of $$$ to get near 1.5 billion..
Several Sandy Hook families testified about the years of threats of getting raped and killed, accused of being part of a conspiracy, false flag, of being crisis actors, because their children were murdered.
Civil law calls that harm.
They’d just sell to the highest bidder. $1.5B not required.
Um, Alex is a Deep State psyop—like much of the “alt” media.
I’ll start the bidding ..
$1..
A good number of these so called “victims” are Hard Leftists...
I didn't know that's what modern conservatism stood for.
The guy lied. He admitted he lied. But because he says the things you like, you’re willing to back a liar. That’s psychotic.
“Who is next?”
No one is immune, probably.
I'm not neutral on Jones. He's a scumbag grifter who will say anything for money. No guest too extreme, no slander too far, no conspiracy too nutty. He stirs evil in those who are unable to discern his conspiracies from reality. Remember all the freepers who were swallowing his Sandy Hook garbage hook line and sinker? The world would be a better place without people like him.
It's obvious Jones doesn't have anywhere near $1.5B in assets. The families of the victims offered Jones a settlement of just $85M ($8.5M/year for 10 years). Jones declined. Alex Jones will start a new show, if he can find backers. I hear the FSB has some extra cash. There's also a chance the bankruptcy trustee will sell the show to someone like Tucker Carlson, who could turn around and hire Jones as a host.
If you believe them.
Well you are still here. RAT backers and RINOs are more prone to psychosis.
Jones can get on my nerves when he talks. His deameanor is abrasive, but quite often he is right on his assessments.
There was some strange goings on around Sandy Hook and those goings on were ripe for people having some doubts. Jones was far from being the only person expressing doubts.
The settlements were way over the top and lend scrutiny to te fact that this was more about shutting Jones up regarding everything for good.
Just because you don’t like Jones does not mean he should be denied a fair trial. And he was denied a fair trial.
And that would be worth $1.5 billion because???
Show me one time you ever said anything bad about Adam Lanza.
Why do you support a mass-murderer?
I support Adam Lanza? What was an appropriate amount? Why are you supporting an admitted liar?
“Don’t forget the crisis actors!”
I don’t know why Alex Jones is handed the fault for that. I ran across that on the internet before I heard anything from Jones.
You’ve mentioned for Adam Lanza, the person who murdered 26 innocent people.
You seem to believe that Alex Jones murdered them, which is why he owes $1.5 billion to people who didn’t even know about it for five years.
And there is Adam’s father who apparently ignored his severely mentally disturbed son. This detail never gets any attention.
