Where Did Russia's Black Sea Fleet Go?
Newsweek ^ | 6/7/2024 | David Brennan

Posted on 06/08/2024 6:50:02 AM PDT by marcusmaximus

A large part of Russia's mauled Black Sea Fleet was seen leaving the port of Novorossiysk this week, with satellite images suggesting the berths of the southern Russian port had been largely emptied despite the ever-present threat posed by Ukrainian maritime drones and missiles.

The intentions of the vessels departing Novorossiysk—further from Ukrainian-controlled territory and considered safer than the Crimean ports repeatedly bombarded by Kyiv's forces—remain unclear.

-snip-

The Black Sea Fleet has been forced to largely abandon its traditional bases of choice on the occupied Crimean Peninsula because of numerous—and ever more sophisticated—Ukrainian long-range attacks. Despite having no conventional navy of note, Ukraine has scored repeated successes against the Russian fleet at sea.

Among the most high-profile Black Sea Fleet losses to date are its flagship guided missile cruiser Moskva, the Rostov-on-Don attack submarine, and several Ropucha-class landing ships. Kyiv also destroyed the fleet's headquarters building in Sevastopol in a cruise missile strike in 2023.

Newsweek was going bankrupt and was sold for one dollar and the buyer had to assume Newsweeks liabilities in 2010, It was sold and resold to several different buyers and is now all digital and has recovered financially.

I don’t follow Scott Ritter. I read all kinds of sources so I can tell you definitively that:

The Ukraine’s entire government is funded by the U.S. Does The U.S. help the little Ukraine citizens? Nope, the U.S. bought the government and now owns the slaves.

40% of the population of the Ukraine voted with their feet and left the slave plantation of crime and villainy.

Little Z-man outlawed all opposition political parties and now reigns in the slave state without an election.

The Ukraine, in an act of desperation, is now using press gangs to round up America s with dual nationality with the Ukraine to die on the front lines.

Early all of the Ukraine faces daily blackouts and the cities along the front sit in the dark 24x7.

Russia’s Second Black Sea is being built with glass bottomed boats so they can see the First. If the Ukies destroy enough of the Russian Navy there, an amphibious operation in Crimea or Southern Kherson province becomes a very real possibility.

Heading to the Caribbean within striking distance of USA.

That's going to be awfully difficult to do without passing through the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits!

Little thing known as the Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits prevents them from doing so!

Regards,

It surprises me that Newsweek’s circulation is still about 1/2 of what it used to be, and Time’s is about 3/4 of what it used to be! I figured they’d both be in the 20-25% range.

There are still too many leftie boomers living. Time and Newsweek will now begin to tank even more rapidly as the boomers start meeting their maker in droves.

As is pretty much always true, only information pre 2022 has value.

Russian Navy — 370 ships, 160K active duty personnel, the ships are labeled “active” and that is dated 2014. 65 Ballistic Missile and Attack Submarines

US Navy — 480 “ships total” of which 300 are deployable, (dunno what that means, quoted from Wiki, as of 2019), 69 submarines Boomers, conventional missile boats and Attack

This is not intended to be a contrast. It is intended to indicate approximation. Many Russian ships are listed as patrol boats.

The above ship count does not include Coast Guard, both countries have extra ships designated for that — not part of the Navy role

There is no indication of significant loss totals from the Russian 370 ship total.
