“People have said that high-efficiency up-conversion of infrared to visible is impossible because of the amount of information not collected due to the angular loss that is inherent in non-local metasurfaces,” Boy, I wish I had a nickel for every time I've said that!

The “pump beam” would seem awkward in practice. How do you implement that without making the thing bulky?

Hmm. Could an automobile windshield be treated with it?

They’d be great for night time deer hunting. Wouldn’t have to bother with that bulky spotlight.

Wondering if solar panels could be made more sensitive to low light conditions.

The article discusses that this film could be applied to any transparent surface. I’m thinking that maybe in the future we would be able to have a pair of Sunglasses and a similar pair on Nightglasses. That would be super for night driving and just being outside at night if it really is that similar. I would definitely want a pair, today, please!

Nice.
I bet the gov will regulate this so the public can’t get it.

I’ll bet the guys depicted in Zero Dark Thirty (watched it again last night) will like these, those things on their helmets looked rather large and cumbersome

Sounds great. Now I can a pair of these to wear so when I’m out doing my farm chores at 4 AM I don’t have to wear my battery powered head lamp!

They back engineered this from the black contact lenses that all the little grey aliens wear.

Also, I'd like this night vision for my Gatorz.
