Putin says Israel actions in Gaza 'some kind of total destruction of civilian population'

Russian President, Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday hailed Turkiye’s significant efforts to resolve the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, where Israel has killed more than 36,000 Palestinians since 7 October and left most civilians homeless and at risk of famine, Anadolu Agency reports.

“What is happening now in Gaza … does not really look like a war, it is some kind of total destruction of the civilian population,” Putin told the heads of leading global news agencies, including Anadolu, at the Lakhta Centre as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The real issue, political matters, need to be resolved. This involves creating two states, as foreseen in the UN’s decision to establish two states in this territory – a Palestinian State and a Jewish State.”

Putin emphasized that it is not possible to resolve the situation without addressing the fundamental issues.

“We have long recognised the Palestinian State since the Soviet Union era. Our approach in this regard has not changed,” he said.

Our current government “recognizes” imaginary peoples, genders, and countries too.

The Putin does not side with The Evil Pantz-Pooping Biden.

So there's the exception to your laughable Brit blanket rule.

Biden has ticked off Putin and now also Xi. He didn’t fulfill the terms of his contracts for the bribe money once in power. So there’s that

Ezekiel 38 is coming.

Perhaps before the “Two-State Solution” and ‘Peace and Security’ deal.

Russia has always been an enemy of Israel, and the U.S.

The Russians were happy to have us broker the conflict in the Russo-Japanese war, which is why the Treaty of Portsmouth was signed in New England. In those days we were considered a neutral 3rd Party for conflicts in that part of the world.

News for Putin: the “Palestinians” don’t want a “two-state solution.” Never have, since it was proposed in the 1930’s.

But he probably knows that. Just playing to the peanut gallery. (An old trick of rulers - to focus on the Jews, in order to distract attention from domestic and other problems.)

While it is understandable that Putin wants to take attention away from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (which, under international law makes Russia and its leaders responsible for ALL of the casualties and deaths) by drawing attention to Israel and Gaza, it is an absurd comparison and also lies.

First, as mentioned above, Russia was the aggressor against Ukraine, whereas Israel was the victim party in its conflict.

Second, on a proportional basis, Israel lost more dead in one day than Russia did in probably 1 year - and, again, Israel wasn’t the aggressor.

Third, of the supposed 36,000 Arab dead (a figure put out by Hamas, hardly a paragon of truth-telling), roughly half are actual Hamas fighters - so you have maybe 20,000 civilians have died. Now, that’s a tragedy - but: a) the blame for that is squarely on Hamas for not just starting the war, but also for purposely using its own civilians as human shields - they WANT casualties among their own people, just for propaganda purposes; and b) considering other conflicts, the ratio of civilian to combatant deaths is literally the lowest in this conflict (IOW, Israel is being extraordinarily careful - moreso than even we and the Brits in the Mideast in the last couple of decades. Vlad and his ham-handed army have absolutely inflicted MANY more civilian casualties in the Ukraine was (that he started), both in absolute numbers and relative to the number of military casualties.

So, in short, Putin would have been better off to say nothing.

“Russia has always been an enemy of Israel, and the U.S.”
_____________________________
Actually, that’s not correct. To be sure, they have, except for a small detail (recognizing Israel as a nation shortly after it declared independence - and that was done to tweak the noses of the Brits), been an enemy of one degree or another to Israel for most of the last 76 years.

WRT the US, yes they were (in their Communist iteration) big enemies of ours for most of the period between 1917 and 1991, and we haven’t exactly been on great terms since (and much of that can be laid at our feet).

However, prior to the Communist Revolution, we and the Russians were actually quite friendly. Recall that they sold us Alaska - you simply don’t do that if the purchaser is hostile to you in any way. But we were then, as now, literally on the other side of the planet and, because technology didn’t allow for us to be at odds with each other, we had no reason to hate or undercut each other.

In the late 19th century and continuing on to 1917, the US leased a considerable patch of territory in central NJ to the Russian government. They used it to test their new artillery ammunition, which they would assemble in part from trainloads of gun powder shipped by rail from DuPont in Delaware. This land later became Lakehurst NAS, McGuire AFB and Ft. Dix. I know this because I grew up in that area, and it was part of the local history. Go ahead - try telling me that we would have leased land to the Russian Army and given them gunpowder for their artillery, when they were located about 1/2 way between NYC and Philadelphia.
