Prince Philip was a member of the Greek royal family and was born in Corfu. The building where he was born is now a museum.
There were also Polish troops in the D-Day invasion.

I hope he got to throw all his many grenades! RIP.

Born to Greek and Danish royalty in Greek Corfu, but exiled to the UK as a baby. He would have had no memories of Greece.
His mother is interred in the Church of Mary Magdalene on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. Prince Charles did visit her resting place a few years ago.

I bought an old M1 Garand bayonet that was Greek issued but made here in the US. Prior to that I didn’t even know that troopers from Greece were involved. I keep it my treasure box and wonder who might have carried it.
