Ford and GM have both suspended well cancelled plans to build a couple new facilities for battery and Eevee assembly, no changes to their internal combustion engine vehicle plans
...cleanest state is California they are still 50% fossil fuel energy and they lie about their statistics because they say they don't know what the mix is for the power that they're importing from the rest of the country which is something like a third of their total demand and the stuff that comes say from the Phoenix area in Arizona to the LA Basin which is something like 10 gigawatt a day which is more than most small countries is 100% fossil fuel but California claims to not know

—”Most will be made in China, shipped to Mexico...”
“The hourly wage for manufacturing workers in China was estimated to be at US$6.5 in 2020, a growth rate of over 12 percent from 2019. The hourly wage for manufacturing workers in Mexico, meanwhile, was estimated at US$4.82, a growth rate of just over 3 percent from a year prior.
Another consideration is the cost and time of shipping. Thanks to its proximity to the US, it is cheaper and faster to ship goods from Mexico than China.”
—”...Meanwhile, the people are being dictated to, and industry has been dictated to. Government of and by and for the people, does not mean a tyranny or a dictatorship.”
All true.
—”and what are those plans?...they’ve adiosed their ICE cars.”
A fun question.
Notice how Toyota has been crapped on for years because they lacked an EV.
GM and Ford are on the periphery of the swirl Stellantis is further down...
Some newer cars exhaust CLEANER air than they took in!
And super-filtered EU diesels for sure.
But the diesel is dead! LONG LIVE THE DIESEL! (F’n VW)
MY guess.
A hybrid diesel using biodiesel -— and the claim will be that biodiesel makes it pure.
What’s wrong???
Is he saying something you don’t like?
—”and now they are sitting in the catbird seat.”
That is a fact!
AS GM, Ford, and Stellantis circle the drain...
Those charts of temperatures through the ages makes me wonder how do they know the temperatures when there were no thermometers?
That particular chart was based on ice core data in Greenland and assumptions on thickness of ice at different depths (years into the past) represented different temperatures. Like you, I'd be skeptical, except that the graph corresponds to written histories of life in those warming and cool periods.
For example, Pevensey Castle in the UK was on the shore during the Roman Warm Period. There were stories of people tying their boats to the castle during high tide. There was also a notorious history of prisoners being put into the ground floor when the tide was out, then drowning when the tide came back in. Then the Little Ice Age moved the coastline away from the castle, and the Modern Warm Period is moving the coastline back to the castle. Yet, to this day, the coastline is about a mile away, suggesting the Modern Warm Period isn't as warm as the Medieval Warm Period (hint, the castle didn't move).
Also, Ephesus was a port city from the Minoan Warm Period to the Roman Warm Period (when the Apostle Paul wrote the letter Ephesians in the Bible). Today it is the 3 miles from the coast (hint, the city didn't move).
I think most people (the thinkers anyway) already realize the harm that Biden would bring with his crazy ideas in “green energy” and other associated programs and that’s only part of it. The EVs are only part of it.
[Correction. Most will be made in China, shipped to Mexico, get a “made in Mexico” stamp, then shipped to the U.S.]

If they have an excuse to move more money out of China that works with Chinese capital control czars, i.e. avoiding US tariffs, they’ll drive a supertanker through it. Job one for them is getting their cash out of reach of China’s grabby government officials who view every dime of theirs as assets they own only on sufferance.
Mexico is an excellent intermediate destination for their money. Next door to the US, moving funds from Mexico to the US is a trivial exercise. Why would they want to move their money to the US? Because it is the one country 100% impervious to Chinese government demands that these funds be seized from their owners and handed to Beijing.
