A man arrested this month in connection with what authorities described as "serial slingshot" shootings in Azusa has died.

Prince King, 81, died Wednesday at a home, according to the LA County Medical Examiner. The cause of death was arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to the medical examiner's office.

King was released from custody Tuesday morning on his own recognizance and made his first court appearance this week in connection with the vandalism that neighbors said had gone on for about 10 years in the San Gabriel Valley neighborhood. Dozens of people in the neighborhood reported windows, car windshields and other property damaged by ball bearings that were found in their yards.

"serial slingshot" shootings<<<

He should have learned that Dead Man's Curve is no place to play.

Although the alternative -- alliteration alley -- is way worse.

My elderly Serbian mother had raging bouts of schizophrenia. She’d wage war with the neighbors, who she thought were spies and secret police.

They claimed she was throwing rocks over the fence and damaging their property. She roundly denied it. After we moved her out, I found a satchel in her closet, filled with rocks. I don’t know where she found them, but the rocks were as big as her hand.

She also had a .177 caliber air gun. Thankfully, she had bought .22 pellets, and it wouldn’t work.

Now, she is living with us, taking her medication, and behaving.

Could you take out an armored possum with those things? We have armadillos now in N GA, I’ve seen them a mile from here. If they show up right here, I was thinking a high powered air rifle might be a good idea.

We’ve got ‘em here too in central Kansas, coming up from TX. Brother who lives down there tells me the things are all over the place. sub-sonic rimfire .22 cartridge is my choice.

Thick one inch concrete nails worked well, two at a time.

Actually, I won’t say anything. Nothing is not out of the ordinary. I am known in this small town. We have 3 gas stations and a marina.

I have been approached.

I considered that, but that’s probably not a good call where I live. I’m thinking slightly subsonic air rifle or wrist rocket.

I would occasionally get ball bearings from my father who had a welding business and had a friend who had a business making bearings. the balls I would get would be about 1/2 in diameter, about the same as a marble. I would use very large rubber bands used to strap books to carry to school and make a metal frame from 1/2” rod, cut the tongue out of an old shoe for a pouch, and make one hell of a sling shot. Blast the old thick coke bottles to bits, never shot any animals except frogs.
