A man arrested this month in connection with what authorities described as "serial slingshot" shootings in Azusa has died.
Prince King, 81, died Wednesday at a home, according to the LA County Medical Examiner. The cause of death was arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to the medical examiner's office.
King was released from custody Tuesday morning on his own recognizance and made his first court appearance this week in connection with the vandalism that neighbors said had gone on for about 10 years in the San Gabriel Valley neighborhood. Dozens of people in the neighborhood reported windows, car windshields and other property damaged by ball bearings that were found in their yards.

King was charged with seven counts of felony vandalism and appeared in court in West Covina on Tuesday, when he pleaded not guilty. He was scheduled to return to court June 17.
Damage from the slingshot shootings were estimated at between $5,000 to $10,000, police said.
Slingshot? For someone who is 81 years old? I would expect some teenager to play with slingshot...Not some senior citizen...
Azusa...Most people who live in that city are Hispanic by the way...
A very royal name.
Sounds like he was a royal pain.
He apparently carried forth his teenage slingshot though the years, and maintains his abilities, but has finally now relinquished his trusted slingshot.
and the neighborhood expressed a sigh of relief.
It was just a retirement hobby…
I’m 69 and I still have a slingshot, though I’m way out of practice. Used to be pretty good with one, many years ago. Never shot any windows or windshields, though.
In my youth, I hit a noisy dog at about 100 yards with a marble and my trusty Wrist-Rocket.
No one is reporting on the backstory.
How is it that this man was living in a home valued over $640K, but was so mentally diminished to be skulking around the neighborhood shooting out windows of people who had done nothing to him ? Was anyone living with him? How did he earn the money for that house? Wae there no family contact that knew he was apparently falling apart? Did he have a collection of slingshots? Self made or ordered on Amazon?
Did it shut that noisy dog up?
Every neighborhood has at least one dog who is ignored by his owner and allowed to bark his head off late into the night.
Senility/Dementia may have returned his mind to his childhood when he was possibly a scoundrel who loved to break things with his slingshot.
Just acting out his favorite, and possibly one of few left, memories.
I guess we’ll never know.
About a year ago, I stung a coyote with a 3/8” steel shot at maybe 30 yards. He quickly left the property and hasn’t been back.
As I recall, I never saw that dog afterwards.
The dog is thinking, “wtf??!”
He isn’t a biden?
Very princely looking but, should have died in prison for a Kings ransom
lame
What timing. Apparently Prince King had no intention of spending his retirement in a sewing circle.
A well made slingshot with a ball bearing can kill you. Just sayin’. https://www.uslawshield.com/tactical-slingshots-mere-toy/
