Why does it have to be Matcha? Shouldn’t any green tea work/

Any green tea should work, but matcha will be more potent due to the fact it is a ground powder tea instead of a less refined leaf tea.

The reason is that the fine powder will release more of the chemical impact (whatever that is) because of the vastly increased surface area contacting the water.

To some degree other leaf teas should have a similar impact since nearly all true teas from the tea plant (as opposed to flower, botanical, or other herb teas) come from the same plant, and are just different cuttings and curing methods.
