The last few weeks have arguably been a period of change for the war in Ukraine, both on and off the battlefield. In Moscow, long serving Defence Minister Shoigu has been removed from that post, while a number of Russian Generals and senior figures have been arrested or otherwise removed.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, Russia has escalated the previously quiet Kharkiv front, edging slightly closer to Ukraine's second city.
In this episode, I want to unpack some of the current political and economic context and ask what may be next for a Russia war effort that is now 'under new management'
A “purge” lol. Shoigu was defense minister for 10 years and was moved to National Security Council head. And replacing generals and high officers is nothing new. Back when our military was unbeatable, we did it wholesale.

But comically, our leaders view any changes in military leadership as a “purge”. That is because in our military the only thing that gets you relieved is having sex with a woman.

Shoigu was counting on the Ukrainian forces folding and instead they fought back. Assuming the enemy will surrender is not a valid strategic plan.
Do tell us which way the entire front is moving Piffy........ East or west?
There have been allegations of corruption, but combat strategy generals don’t really have the ability to grab loot.
The course forward for Russia is not clear.
Those that disagree most strongly with Putin are probably being retired.
Something’s goin’ on. You don’t do that when things are going well.
Sometimes you do it when things are changing. And sometimes you make big changes to make it go well. That was literally our calling card in WWII.
They did almost take Kyiv. But their logistics failed them. I think they wouldn't have held on to the city for long. They did not have enough troops. They went in with only 200,000 troops.
What’s next for Ukraine?
More stupidity, death and destruction.
Yes toward the end of last year - the UKR caught it at a dock in a Russian naval port of Novorossiysk during a drone attack
What does Nam have to do with Russia’s invasion of UKR?
That’s not accurate
Almost took Kiev?
Yet left the power on?
They thought they had a deal
They were wrong
We nixed it
And here we are
Probably similar deal if trumps elected
All that dead for nothing
Pretty much
Stop posting such drivel. If Russia is using so called meat assaults show us the proof. Only idiot western propagandist would come up with such a stupid term. It’s not Russia suffering from a shortage of men. Ukraine is abducting men off the streets and sending them into areas they know they cannot hold. The term to use is meat grinder. That’s what Russia has the Ukrainians walking into.
