Alina Habba, an attorney for former President Trump, suggested the jury in the hush-money trial should have been sequestered over Memorial Day weekend to prevent outside influence ahead of this week’s closing arguments.
“They should have been sequestered, because, in my opinion, these jurors are handling something that is completely unprecedented and unwarranted in America,” Habba said Sunday on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“And for them to be able to be out and about on a holiday weekend with friends and families who have opinions, who are watching the news, TVs in the background at the pool party, I have serious concerns. If they’re left-wing and they’re watching MSDNC, as my client calls it, [MSNBC] or CNN, they’re not going to get fair news.”
The 12 New York jurors will be tasked this week with weighing whether to convict Trump on 34 criminal counts, all of which need to have the same decision or else the case ends in a mistrial.

Trump’s defense last Tuesday rested their case without calling the former president to the stand, and the jurors were dismissed until this coming Tuesday, when closing statements are slated to begin. Jury deliberations will follow shortly afterward.
Judge Juan Merchan said closing arguments will not be held until this coming Tuesday as a result of some “issues,” though he did not explain what those might be.
Habba argued the holiday weekend will allow jurors to speak with their friends who might have “Trump derangement syndrome,” an informal term used by Trump allies to refer to criticism of the former president.

Sounds reasonable, but those can be rigged too. Hard to trust anything from the N.Y. justice system.
Agree with her.
But, leaving them on thier own made it a lot easier for the DOJ thugs to visit them on the sly...you know, to help them ‘formulate’ their decision...
In a non-rigged trial, yes.
If it truly is God’s will that Trump will be President, then no wicked lying scheme will stop it, try as they might. Lord your will be done.
I guess if there was a real concern, the defense could have requested sequestering.
I know they hate Trump, but I think they fear him, more than hate him.
He’s the only one leading the fight against them. The mainstream GOP are easily controlled, and therefore, not the threat that Trump represents.
They will do anything to remain in power, anything.
How many showed up for him at the rally in the Bronx?
Crying shame for NYPD and the court folks to find all of them are descending on the courthouse.
Those folks might not take things lying down like a bunch of suburbanites.
Face it, with criminal clowns running the ‘court’, everything about the proceedings is irregular
Someone posted the jury instructions are hundreds of pages long...anyone know if that is really true?
Yes. I was thinking the same thing.
If they are filled with TDS, then odds are they don’t have one conservative friend.
Not being sequestered they are much more available to bribes and threats. “Do you love your children? parents? Grandma? Do you want them to stay safe? It’s just a little vote. Do it for your country! Your children/parents/etc. will stay safe and thank you. Do you need some help on your credit card debt?”
And offer the requisite bribes accompanied by slightly veiled threats.
Appeal is irrelevant. Results of an appeal won’t happen before the election. I believe the judge and Garland intend to get that conviction and cuff him there in the courtroom and hustle him forthwith off to jail. That may not happen that way because SS is in the Courtroom, too and might well have a say in it. If Garland thinks they will get real resistance from SS at being separated from DJT, DJT will get a delay before he is ordered to “report for Incarceration.”
“That may not happen that way because SS is in the Courtroom, too and might well have a say in it.”
Don’t worry, I’m sure they have authorization to use deadly force to murder whoever they want.
They should have day one. I was surprised they weren’t.
Judge has already stated that the jury only has o agree on Guilty on one particular charge. They can disagree on everything else. It may be contrary to law and Constitution but so is a whole lot else about this trial and this DOJ.
It hasn’t happened yet
