In case you're not familiar with the case and NO he did not hire hitmen (he was never charged, prosecuted or convicted for this) nor did he peddle Fentanyl (never mentioned anywhere in the case).

He does not deserve to spend the rest of his life in prison for creating a burgeoning marketplace!

Prayers will hopefully be answered.

His crime was creating a parallel economy the US feral government could not profit from.

What exactly was he prosecuted for, and what is the sentence he was given?

I agree with you, most people only go by what they see in the media about this guy, if you look into the case, you learn he never hired hitmen and no one was murdered.

He deserves to spend time in prison, but life without parole is way beyond the punishment he deserves. IMO, the reason the government gave him life without parole is he embarrassed them and once politicians got involved and wanted answers, his days were numbered.

So, that’s what you call the Mexican drug cartels!

I agree & disagree at the same time.

He knowingly started a darkweb site, not just a website. He knew quite well what he was allowing to take place on that site was illegal, and that is why he started it on the darkweb. I suspect that he was allowing far more than just illegal drugs, but a double-life sentence + 40 years is way over the top, even if some of those purchasing illicit drugs died. If they would have charged him with child trafficking, and had substantiated the charge beyond the shadow of a doubt, I would not even hesitate to allow him to die in jail. But that sentence should apply to all who deal in child trafficking, even if it is child pornography trafficking. Same goes for any human trafficking as far as I am concerned.

Perhaps another 5 years in jail might be appropriate, with a lifetime ban of operating a darkweb site, with the penalty being death if he tries to go there again.

He does not deserve to have his record wiped clean at all.

I also think that Mark Zuckerberg needs the same treatment as Ross was subjected to, and that all profits he made off of his website should be seized for his role in the coup d'état of the 2020 election. Leave him & his wife penniless.

This drug dealer and murderer (sure, he didn't get charged with it but it is pretty clear if you do some reading that he was involved), belongs where he is, in jail. He created a website and facilitated all sorts of illegal activities. Let him rot there.

Okay, Trump promises to commute his sentence. Unfortunate, but I'm sure worse people have had their sentences commuted. Maybe Trump will delay this until the last day of his next term to get 16 years of jail out of him.

There were some rather substantive threads on FR in the past about this guy, what he did, and why he was rightly in jail.
