Team Biden moving to de-politicize the top ranks of the administration? Color us suspicious.
The Office of Special Counsel (an executive branch agency) just moved authority to enforce the Hatch Act, which supposedly bans government officials from engaging in political activity, from the White House to the quasi-independent Merit Systems Protection Board.
Historically, senior White House personnel have been on a long leash here, including White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre frequently and derogatorily using the term “MAGA Republicans” (and White House aide Kellyanne Conway criticizing Democratic candidates during the Trump years).
Somehow we don’t think this means a muzzle for KJP.
But the out-of-the-blue move raises the question: Why now?
Our guess: Biden (or whoever calls the shots at the White House) is tired of getting slammed by his own (dyed-in-the-wool lefty) staffers, who’ve been publicly whining that he’s been too supportive of Israel’s government since last November (despite his consistent hamstringing of the Jewish state).
Moving enforcement to an outside agency will discourage pesky discontents from publicly embarrassing Biden by tarnishing his leftists bonafides — without requiring him to get his hands dirty by being the one to bring the hammer down.
Of course, when it suits Biden, federal workers at all levels are not just allowed but encouraged and sometimes required to play politics.

EXCLUSIVE: How Biden’s Executive Order Is Turning Out the Federal Bureaucrat Vote
President Joe Biden signed Executive Order 14019 in March 2021 to push federal agencies to promote voter participation.
The initiative includes the Department of Homeland Security’s registration of voters during naturalization ceremonies, the Department of Education’s promotion of voting in high schools and colleges, and agencies’ work with private, nonprofit organizations to increase voter turnout.
Biden’s executive order prompted suspicion among some Republican lawmakers, who said they were concerned that federal agencies’ engagement in boosting turnout would violate laws such as the Hatch Act, which prohibits partisan political activity using federal resources and time.

“Biden’s executive order prompted suspicion among some Republican lawmakers,. . . .”
At what point does suspicion trigger a sternly worded letter to Biden?
Charlie Kirk has done a couple podcasts on this topic lately, the rats have ordered some 600 fed agencies, boards, etc. to register voters and so forth. This is blatantly illegal and unconstitutional and yet the worthless GOPe/uniparty will do nothing. Heck, they won’t even bother writing a letter.
” . . . the worthless GOPe/uniparty will do nothing. “
The current situation with the two parties reminds me of the auto rental business of the 1960’s and 1970’s where Hertz was #1 and Avis was #2. Avis’s motto was “We Try Harder”. Yet Avis could never beat Hertz.
It makes one believe in the uniparty with the GOP playing the role of #2, claiming to “try” but constantly failing.
They need to be “Alinskied” and sued for disparate impact under the Voting Rights Act.

Why now? This could be a move to hamstring the next administration, as rumor indicates the Biden people are doing everything it can do limit Trump’s executive power should he be elected.
Team obama are planting political time bombs to go off if Trump wins this election. Like Clinton did for George Bush.
Harrumph..... like Bush wasn’t enough of a knucklehead on his own. We’re still dealing with the mess he left in Texas. I’ll take bush-league RINO’s for $1000, Alex.
Trump has done an excellent job of exposing most all of the traitors from within and I believe they will get their well deserved reckoning soon enough.
Bkmk
My guess is that even though Biden will lose (if the election cannot be stolen by voter fraud) they are expecting this politicized special counsel they’ve embedded into our government will CONTINUE beyond Biden’s current term (and into Trump’s term).
That being the case the special counsel will vigorously prosecute ANY parts of government under Trump that appear to be cooperating with him. What should happen if Trump is elected is that he should just bite the bullet right off and fire the special counsel, Democrat whining and moaning bedamned.
I agree. They are expecting Trump to win.
He did well enough that Texan were thrilled to vote for bush twice. Must have been pretty happy with him.
As usual, what actual choices did we have. The perceived lesser of two evils has been the problem for decades. Like the feds are infested with progs, we are infested with RINO’s and are currently in the process of painstakingly pitching them out. Thanks GWB.... the gift that keeps on giving. No joy either way.
The administrations of practically every agency in this state are heavily infested with RINO’s and their ilk. Observed my alma mater be completely wrecked to where it is totally unrecognizable from 10 years ago and no-one was able to stop it nor slow it down. They were simply let go. Lots of excellent talent just pushed out the door. We have our work cut out for US and this is just one state albeit a rather large one. Now multiply that by 57, er... 50 and we’re in some deep cow patties.
I agree. Our choices have been dismal for decades. I mean I voted for McCain and Romney. How embarrassing.
