The primary cause of death in most cases where the perp is fighting/resisting detainment or arrest is the perp.

You glazed right over this most important part of the equation. No resisting, no problem.

Floyd killed himself by resisting arrest AND having a boat load of drugs in him at the time.

An argument could be made the cops used excessive force but it would be hard to prove they used more force than necessary to subdue and control the perp.

It really is too bad the cops don’t have a magic zapper that puts the perp immediately into a super calm condition. Until then, perp’s are going to kill themselves this way.

Tell that to this dog:

The most important part of the equation is there’s way too many cops out there that don’t care anymore about you than that dog. And will kill you, or just let you die, if you present even the most minor inconvenience.

Floyd certainly didn’t comply. No argument there.

But there is an implicit assumption that law enforcement knows what they’re doing. I don’t argue that the force was excessive (for the most part-the hold/move was in place for a while). I argue it was applied incorrectly, or incompetently to be precise.

Consider getting pulled over for speeding. You refuse to hand over your license because you swear you weren’t going over 55. The LEO gets emotional and shatters your hand in the process of cuffing you. You happen to be a pianist for a living. You now have no career.

It’s similar to - but a few steps removed from - a physician botching a procedure on a tough patient, and an electrician crossing wires in an old house,

IMHO the cop is responsible for the wake of his incompetence. I’m also not a lawyer. YMMV.

That said, this whole saga is a case study in the jar-shakers owning the ants. The left canonized an unrepentant black ex-convict drug user. The right championed incompetence in a white law enforcement officer. You couldn’t write a better script for them.

Today, police ranks are thinning (I spoke to a LEO about this…it’s demoralizing but the ones to whom the little DoodleBobs and I thank them for their job are incredibly appreciative). Cities are less safe. Satan laughing, spreads his wings.

However, the ants may be coming back. Some of the leftists in cities are rethinking their position and bad DAs are losing elections. Meanwhile, rightists call the FBI the FIB and are talk about J6 incarcerations in a manner comparable to civil rightists of yesteryear. And rappers are coming to Trump rallies.
