Obsessed with Our DNA: The Rise and Fall of 23andMe
The High Wire ^

Posted on 05/23/2024 1:29:44 PM PDT by Tench_Coxe

When a trusting customer purchases a kit from 23andMe, spits in their tube, and mails it back, they effortlessly provide 23andMe with genetic data on dozens and dozens of their traits. If the intended goal is to discover a family ancestry line, or if they are a candidate for ailments like breast or prostate cancer and other disease-causing variants, then 23andMe may seem like a valuable tool. However, by consenting to let 23andMe run tests, customers agree to user terms set by the company.

(snip)

As the partnership between 23andMe and GSK came to life, besides publicly disclosed deals with Genentech and Pfizer, 23andMe was also partnered with Janssen, Lundbeck, Biogen, and Alynlam Pharmaceuticals to share genetic studies run on anonymous customer data. These alliances continued unchanged once the GSK partnership began, but 23andMe agreed not to enter into any new partnerships focused on drug target discovery for the next five years.

I remember back around 2018 when every other commercial seemed to be by this outfit and I think it was ancestry.com. Pitching it as a "great Christmas gift".

The fact that it was being sold so hard made me suspicious.

I saw what they were asking for, what people were getting in return, and remember thinking: if I were a government wanting to get a DNA database of the population, but worried about the reaction to doing it by force, why not make a shell company, do some clever marketing, give back some BS like those hearaldry outfits do, and not only will they comply, but they'll actually pay us.
I refused to do it.

And now look where we are...

I have avoided this like the plague. I don’t trust them.

Also, I hear that the results they send back as far as your ethic anestry are weird, and obviously inaccurate.

My daughter was big into this, and got me signed up. No more. I need to cancel my account with them. Thanks for the head’s up.

What do you perceive as being the risk to an individual by providing a DNA sample for use in research? How does that come back to potentially harm me? Other than simply valuing my privacy.

(The fact that it was being sold so hard made me suspicious.)

Just like COVID-19(84)

The foundation for the Antichrist and his New World Order
has been building and in operation for some time now.

It becomes more and more obvious every week.

Maybe they use DNA samples to figure out weaknesses against viruses, then they can launch COVID knowing potential harm it can cause.

Like Amazon, the PLA thanks everyone for their contribution to their genetic research into creating a genetic bio-weapon

Its not our government, its the Chinese government where the samples were sent, analyzed; and are now stored in a PLA DNA repository.

I had some blood work done yesterday at the hospital. I wonder if they sell the DNA information like 23 And Me.

For me, i had just experienced being forced to have a picture taken for company id with an employer who made a big deal of facial recognition software marketing their own data base. That was 2018 as well. No way am i giving up any more info about myself until i am room temperature.

It’s like letting the cops fingerprint your kids to fight “kidnapping”. Now they can easily track you from now on

What do you perceive as being the risk to an individual by providing a DNA sample for use in research?

A third party obviously has your DNA and a name associated with it. Then it becomes an ethics question.

Do they really keep the sample anonymous? They misled donors into thinking they would get a simple answer about their ancestry yet look what they did with the data without explicit informed consent of the donor.

Why does it matter to me if my name is attached to a particular DNA sample? How could I be harmed, personally, by this?

The Chinese and many others have figured out the addictive and self-absorbed nature of the human animal and how to profit from it. Give them things to showcase themselves - TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram - and they will post anything, say anything, reveal anything all because they want to be noticed, admired, paid attention to, get likes, etc.

I have no evidence, of course, but I think those ancestry things are funded by the Chinese to get as much non-Han DNA as they can to devise a virus that kills the non-Hans that does not kill the Hans ... all in preparation for the next pandemic that the Hans have devised a vaccine for ahead of time.

Am I wrong?

Think of it this way: would you trust Anthony Fauci to have your best interests at heart for his research? (known as gain of function)

How about Ezekiel Emmanuel (Rahm's brother), who thinks there are too many people (not including him of course)

Or how about Yuval Harari?--look that prize up.

I have disgust with the whole thing...sadly, some family members have succumbed to the constant ads....

I know who my mother and father were, that's enough....

I don't think your suspicion is off. In fact its pribably a good thing to be skeptical.

“I had some blood work done yesterday at the hospital. I wonder if they sell the DNA information like 23 And Me.”

Who reads 20 pages of legalese that the medical establishment expect everyone of us to sign ?

I was denied medical treatment because I refused to sign at Advent Health in December 2022.
The documents have gotten so bad that the include a phrase to the affect ... “No part of this document maybe modified, changed, or crossed out.”

Denied.
