The irony is that you could quickly find what you wanted without the constant distractions of paid advertisements and endless dross and fluff. I’d wager the phone book is quicker than an internet search.

Oh there’s tons of ads in the phonebook. That’s how it turned a profit. And smart business owners would even put ads in other sections, just in case people were in the Ws for washing machine when they should be in the As for appliances. Internet is way quicker if you know how to search.
