Strawberries alone aren’t sweet enough for me. I smash 3/4 of them, add sugar or substitute to make a sauce for the other 1/4.

Don’t use the linked recipe! It includes SOUR CREAM!

FILTHY! DISGUSTING! HERESY!

Heavy Whipping Cream or Light Whipping Cream, or even Reddi-Whip in a pinch.

Don’t forget the sugar.

Strawberries are in season. Hurray!

My birthday is coming up, and my wife is going to make me strawberry shortcake!

My grandparents owned a strawberry farm near Ponchatoula, LA. They would not let me pick strawberries because cotton mouth and water moccasins love strawberries. They thought that I was too young to look for them before picking. However, after they were picked they let me eat all I could eat. I used to pluck the leaves off of the top and pop the strawberrys right into my mouth. ;-)

I’m still addicted to them, thanks to my grandparents! ;-)

Our local strawberries from Poteet Texas are out and delicious!
Great crop this year available at the local HEB.

In N.GA, strawberries have been ripe for about a month. Wife and I went to a large field and picked way too many. We ended up giving nearly half away. Sure were good.
