REDMOND, Wash. (AP) — Microsoft wants laptop users to get so comfortable with its artificial intelligence chatbot that it will remember everything you’re doing on your computer and help figure out what you want to do next.
The software giant on Monday revealed a new class of AI-imbued personal computers as it confronts heightened competition from Big Tech rivals in pitching generative AI technology that can compose documents, make images and serve as a lifelike personal assistant at work or home.

Maybe rename the operating system to "Microsoft Narc".
Dave, you should report yourself to the IRS for cheating on your taxes. But Hal, I haven’t. Dave , I know you want to do that and I am programmed to do what I know you want to do. In fact, I ve already done it.
The Paperclip ‘Clippie’ is back in AI forum...
I have seen this work on Google, and it is not good and not truly helpful.
After a ton of Goodle searches in one direction I found it impossible for the Google search to quit going in that direction.
To me many of the planned AI uses are virtually and literally to get you to quit using your own mind. Just be a dummy, ask your AI robots to figure it out for you and then do as they say.
Is this feature the reason why Windows 10 is being discontinued?
Uhhhhh..............no....................
It used to be concern about someone slipping a keylogger onto your computer. Now you get the privilege of paaying for it.
Microsoft generally supports their OS for 10 years. It is a couple more years than Apple. I have 8+ year old laptop running W10. It isn't upgradable to Win 11 because it lacks the TPM chip. I only use it when I travel to browse the web. When support ends, I am likely to just keep using it. My main desktop is a Mac mini. I am on my second one. The first one lasted about 10 years with a couple of years of no support. I broke down last year and bought a new one.
ha, not going to stop me from installing windows for free for all my friends.

I’ve had identical experiences. I’m tired of some AI device anticipating my next moves when in fact it has no idea what I’m actually thinking or wanting. This is not helpful, it’s downright annoying.
It used to be during a Google search that what a person wants would be the first or second item on the results page. Not anymore. If I’m looking for a certain brand of a product, the results will be just about any other brand of a like item. I’ve found Bing to give better results in product searches.
We are being manipulated to death in the digital world, not to mention everything we do or say is monitored by someone.
And this is not going to get better.

I still run Win 7, and will until browsers and anti-virus software no longer support it. It’s like our 97 Silverado, it still runs, so keep it.
I stayed away from Win10 because of reported spying features it supposedly had. Why else would Gates be giving it away? Since I’ve never had Win10 I do not know this from personal experience, but Win10 required periodic access to the internet and would not stand alone. This feature could be turned off by advanced users to make Win10 an off-grid OS.
My understanding of Win11 is that periodic accessing of the internet is required and cannot be turned off. Thus Win11 cannot be used as a stand alone off-grid OS.
So to answer your question, Win11 came out with enhanced spying features and when support for Win10 disappears most Microsoft users will have to rely on Win11. During the security updates just about any enhanced spying feature can be installed and the user will never know it.
Am I wrong? I doubt it. Am I paranoid? Yup.
AI technology that can compose documents,
= = =
And at the other end, AI will read the document.
I can just go fishing.
AI will write and read the documents for my job.
& my move to Linux has yet ANOTHER tic in the “Why I made the move after Win7” column.
I recently bought a laptop running Windows 11. I’m going to use it for photo processing. I would love an Apple laptop or desktop, but I can’t afford one.
I already use an iPad and iPhone. Anything important I do on the iPad or phone.
I have seen the pesty AI, I just try to ignore it. I would love to disable it if I could.
Exactly what I was think of - Thanks!
Same here. Powers that be already know everything about me. Psalm 91 is my protection.
Keep using those MS-Windows computers folks!
#11 I already have my options OFF but I see pc google searches turn up at websites ads and in google search suggestions and in my Roku Youtube suggestions. I also see them from conversations I have with people on my android phone.
