A mother, who was the victim of a home invasion, is outraged after a 911 dispatcher told her she should call a local lawmaker to request more police funding.
Michelle, who has chosen to remain anonymous, called 911 six times after two men broke into her Chicago home. When they picked up, they told her if she wanted help from the police, she should call her alderman and demand more funding for the Chicago police department.
'A gentleman got on and said sorry to say we have no units to send you…then there was an awkward pause,' she told NBC Chicago. 'He also recommended I call my alderman and I said why- and he said encourage him to hire more police.'
She continued: 'The dispatcher also asked me if I would consider defending myself … if I had a weapon or considered getting one.'
The victim said two men entered her house around 12:30 pm when she unlocked her door to let her dog out.
'I saw two men wearing masks standing inside my house,' 'I screamed – 'I am calling the police' and they bolted.'
Michelle and her neighbor chased the men away from their houses, and then once she was safe, she called 911.
'They told me dispatch was on the way and wait outside,' she said.
When officers finally arrived at her house, they showed deep remorse, profusely apologizing for not getting there sooner.
'The officers who did show up cared and were apologetic it took so long to get them there,' she said.
Chicago Police blamed the delay on the priority list for 911 dispatch calls, they told NBC Chicago. The department said if a person's life is not in immediate danger, it may fall low on the priority list.

I just watched both versions on YouTube. The original must have been the one I remember from elementary school/high school (seems really tame compared to today’s rap).
There’s one section in the rap:
911 is a joke we don’t want ‘em
I call a cab ‘cause a cab will come quicker
I had an elderly relative who would always call a cab when he was having a medical emergency to take him to the hospital (which was about 1/4 mile or so from his apartment) because they would always show up fast. One day he had a stroke and couldn’t communicate, so his friend that was visiting at the time called the ambulance. Apparently took them more than an hour to get to his place by which time he was dead.
Goes to show, private enterprise is always superior to whatever the government provides.
Yup
“Your call is very important to us. Please stay on the line and your call will be handled in the order received. You are currently number 32.”
Fixed it for ya.
What "police state concerns?"
Before St. Floyd, cops were sixteen times more likely to be killed by a black person than vice-versa.
After St. Floyd it rose to forty times.
Gullible idiots like you are part of the problem.
I’ll call 911, after I shoot the intruder.
Priorities.
She continued: ‘The dispatcher also asked me if I would consider defending myself … if I had a weapon or considered getting one.’
Bet she votes dem. She deserves what she gets.
When seconds count, the police are MINUTES away!
Get a gun and learn to use it!
...then call a lawyer to sue the Democrats for their illegal infringements on the caller's inalienable right to keep and bear arms.
I might call neighbor with a backhoe-—
NOT calling 911.
Ohh well.
“I’ll call 911, after I shoot the intruder.
Priorities.”
Okay there you go.
So if here are no police to send to the scene to they send the undertaker?
Call the coroner. Must be pronounced dead at the scene before moving the body.
After 911 dispatcher says no one to send to help you, proper response would be don’t need coppers, need medical examiner and hazmat cleanup.
She’s not wrong... It was the most honest answer she could have given. The problem isn’t the police or the 911 operator. The problem is the BLM stupid shits that don’t want law enforcement.
I tend to side on the dispatcher doing the very best they can given a tough situation.
“ That 911 dispatcher needs his/her ass handed to him/her”
For being too honest
Sounds like you’ve done that a time or two
