Link to video of arrival of the police and the original comedy skit.
On March 12, 2024, Dutch absurdist comedian Hans Teeuwen posted a video mocking the mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema. As part of the video, a vaguely pistol-looking object was on a table, at the edge of the screen, next to him.
Three hours later, the police were at his door. The came in and confiscated the object, which was still on the table. AmmoLand covered the story. In the AmmoLand article, this correspondent noted the object was most likely a Webley air pistol.
Coverage of the incident continues in the Netherlands. Nos.nl confirms the object was an air pistol. From nos.nl as translated by deepl.com:
Amsterdam police stopped by the home of comedian Hans Teeuwen to take an air pistol. Teeuwen had used the weapon for a persiflage (bantering) film of Amsterdam mayor Femke Halsema. The air pistol, which bears resemblance to a real gun, appears to be a reference to the firearms affair involving her ex-husband Robert Oey and their son.
Air pistols are legal and for sale in the Netherlands. It appears a person has to be 18 years old to purchase one. Replicas of real firearms are much more highly regulated. Some of the air pistols for sale in shops in the Netherlands appear to look more like an actual firearm than the old Webley design. It may take a court case to determine if the old Webley design too closely resembles an actual firearm to be legal in the Netherlands.

Comedian Hans Teeuwen image from original skit, showing airgun on table to his left.
Webley Tempest airgun from the author's collection. Notice the distinctive rear sight.
Then it would be covered up.
Comedians in the USA don't fear swat raids. They fear being blackballed and cancelled by the "woke" crowd.
A few are starting to stand up, but it only takes a few to show the ideological stupidity of woke.
No doubt, politicians in the USA would love to do what you suggest.
There is very little evidence of it at present.
The closest is the extreme, absurd persecution of people who were present at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
more likely shot dead AFTER it was discovered to be an air pistol to save embarrassment then replaced. cya ya know.
Don’t dis the airgun... the old daisey red rider shot .177 BB’s at 280 to 350 fps, tho’ 350 fps is probably truely attainable only after some benchwork.
A .22 high value airgun can pack a wallop and would have no trouble crashing into a skull with resultant brain trauma.
Such a rifle very effectively keeps deer and stray cats away
Very true. I use a .177 air gun, and they are nothing to play around with. I treat it with the same respect I treat a powder-based firearm.
lol… our son married a Dutch girl over there. The last time there was a hostage situation at a club…. I called then about it. He said they were probably being held hostage with a knife. Apparently they forgot to outlaw knives.
I asked him how you could hold three people or more hostage with a knife.
They even evacuated several blocks.
It was pretty funny from an American perspective.
Needless to say when the grandchildren of the future spend time with us, they will have working knowledge of self defense… to include guns they can never have.
LOL! OH THE HORROR! Probably had all the brain dead human debris watching it undies in a bunch...
The guy looks like Andre the Giant’s mini-me.
Or if your neighbor is the one with the video, you could still be raided and shot when the hit the wrong address.
Go as Bryan Malinowski about the slight resemblance to reality. But it would be a rather one sided conversation as the SWAT raided his house (early hours) and shot and killed him. He was the executive director of the national airport in Little Rock and no prior arrests or run ins with the law. A clean record. He could have easily been questioned on his way to work, at work or just walk up to his door and ring his doorbell.
Fortunately for the Dutch guy this time, there were no rumors that he was hiding Jews in the attic.
Vicious totalitarians are simply vicious totalitarians. At one time the US had a Constitution that was designed to restrict totalitarians. Where did we put that? It used to be around here somewhere.
Sure. There are several examples of very bad raids by ATF/FBI and others. They are not the norm... yet.
The idea a comedian would be raided by SWAT because he showed an air gun on a table in video, is far from the norm.. at this time.
Yes, we need to publicize the bad examples.
Yes, we need to get Trump elected so he can clean house.
Yes, we are far, far further down the wrong path than we want to be.
In the Teeuwen case, the police showed up at his door step less than three hours from the time he posted his comic video.
Do you know how long the investigation into Bryan Malinowski was ongoing before they raided him? It was months. He repeatedly flouted federal law at gun shows for months before the raid.
Was the raid necessary?
Not really.
It was an example of Jack booted thuggery.
It was terrible Biden political theater, meant to intimidate.
But it is not the norm... yet.
