Months of relentless Russian artillery pounding have devastated a strategic city in eastern Ukraine, new drone footage obtained by The Associated Press shows, with barely a building left intact, homes and municipal offices charred and a town that once had a population of 12,000 now all but deserted.
The footage shows Chasiv Yar — set amid green fields and woodland — pounded into an apocalyptic vista. The destruction is reminiscent of the cities of Bakhmut and Avdiivka, which Ukraine yielded after months of bombardment and huge losses for both sides.

Russia is playing it to where Ukraine (us) will settle this eventually, and when they (we) do, Russia will have the upper hand. All they need to do is keep the pressure on, take one small town after another, creeping forward where ever they see an opportunity along a 1,500 km front (a lot of frontage).
Russia's goal was NEVER to take all of Ukraine. That would be a nightmare they do not want. In fact, it was done before and was a nightmare then. Their goal was always to take the Eastern ethnic Russian areas of Ukraine and that they mostly did (military objective, ~85% complete). Russia's goal was to block Ukraine from entering NATO, and that they did (political objective, 100% complete).

Advancing a palty 1,000 meters every 2 months is not something to brag about. Putin the stronk genius blew up his most effective general Prigozhin.
Conversely, Avdiivka was labeled as an impenetrable fortress.
Further, you go on and on about how Russia is only able to be stopped by American taxpayer money in the same breath as saying that they are incompetent.
