@mtracey
Furthermore it's bizarre that Rand Paul and Tommy Tuberville apparently could not be bothered to vote last night (Ukraine foreign aid vote). Unless there was some sudden medical emergency that physically prevented them from showing up to the chamber, it's inexcusable

Most unusual.
Rand promised "no quick passage" of the foreign aid in the Senate but was MIA. No one knows if even he was in DC.
I can only assume he stood aside on Deep State orders.
Here's a media report on it:
‘Bizarre’: Why did Rand Paul miss the Ukraine foreign aid vote?
The journalist Tracey who posted about it is livid with Donald Trump as well and accuses his sons of trying to have it both ways. He is saying Trump supported the Ukraine foreign aid and backed up Johnson.
ARE WE BEING PLAYED FREEPERS?
We’ve been played for decades. This insistence that we can vote our way out of the country’s demise is flat out delusional. Most of the country, including a far number of conservatives and Freepers, appear willing to just ride out the death spiral and hope they pass away before the boxcar lines begin.
I wonder if both Rand and 6-fingers Tubby (it’s a Bama thing) knew that the Yays would far outnumber the Nays anyway. Still, the thread starter brings up a valid question that I’d like answered by the senators.
The Ukraine aid package is basically just welfare for white people — in both Ukraine and the U.S. Most of these members of Congress don’t want to be on the record opposing giant piles of money going to defense contractors in their home districts/states.
It was a very bad week but it just got even worse with these revelations
It’s bad ...
Until I hear from Paul as to why he did what he did, I will withhold judgment. However, if he doesn’t respond as to why he was a no-show. ….
What do you mean by that? Black folks don’t need welfare from government? How many crooked black folks are there in Congress? Most of them?
You’re way overthinking it. The vote was 79 to 18. They are smart enough to know 79 to 20 is meaningless.
HUGE concern. He even promised no quick passage and he’d object but looks like he strategically missed the vote and a some others that week too!!
As I said , a bad week all round for conservatives at least.
Rand prides himself on his voting record and opposition to such aid. It’s weird put it that way.
Black folks already get plenty of it. That’s why I’m genuinely surprised that DEMOCRATS haven’t been up in arms about these foreign/corporate welfare bills.
Oh please every decision isn’t the deep state.
Don’t know what’s up with Rand. I’m more concerned that Trump apparently supported this. Rand’s vote wouldn’t have changed anything whereas Trump giving Johnson the thumbs up to ok this is very concerning.
What else do you put it down to?
He skips town on $95 billion foreign aid vote, one of the biggest and most consequential votes of Congress and he disappears ?
We need to find out why.
Perhaps a Kentuckian can contact his office and politely inquire
I think Alberta Child’s post # 4 is spot on. Both Rand and Tubbs knew there was no way to stop the bill anyway, so why go on record opposing a bill that brings money to the defense contractors in their respective states (Alabama and Texas).
McConnell has been bragging that Trump support for Johnson was helpful.
Argggh....
As I said, not a great week !
I believe so.
Still out of character for him not to be voting or making noise on this and possibly skipping town. I dont think he’s done it in 14 years
I put it down to his own final decision.
