Al Roker and his company were accused in a lawsuit filed Tuesday of failing to follow a diversity, equity and inclusion mandate.
Former executive producer Bill Schultz is suing the "Today" show anchor and Al Roker Entertainment, claiming he was "wrongfully and illegally targeted" for termination in 2023 after calling out the company’s failure to properly follow a diversity initiative, according to a court document The Hollywood Reporter published.
he lawsuit alleged that the company "callously disregarded" a PBS DEI program that mandated Schultz’ animated series "Weather Hunters" include Black writers. Schultz accused Al Roker Entertainment of trying to undermine and avoid the mandate by having Black writers only touch up scripts that White writers wrote rather than hire Black staff writers.

I’m going to with a big “WTF?”.
I guess he’s going to have to maintain in court that Al Roker is some kind of ‘racist’.
Yes, ‘comical’; not so much, though, if he winds up having to pay all the court costs...
“I’m going to with a big “WTF?”.”
All I can say is Ditto and how much I miss Rush.
If PBS never contractually agreed with the plaintiff, or plaintiff's union, to impose the mandate on anyone -- if it was only a general desire to increase DEI -- then PBS is not bound by it.
“...I miss Rush...”
Indeed.
The world is a different place, and NOT for the better.
I forgot to type the “go”.....
“In a world gone mad . . . “
THIS popped up on my screen at some recent point.
VERY weird and a likely glimpse of the AI future.

Life is a lazy susan and what goes around does indeed come around.
Rush died 3 years ago?!? I can’t believe it has been that long! I just want to cry.
From what I can see, it wasn’t an Uber driver, but an NYC Yellow Cab driver; and it’s characterized as a complaint to the Taxi Commission, not a lawsuit.
Let me know, if you know more; but an actual lawsuit will hear evidence.
I don’t have much faith that this ‘Schultz’ guy will win. It sounds to me like he’s looking for a payout.
When a multimillionaire goes after some guy because he got his silk knickers in a twist I am not going to cry many sad tears for him when the wheel turns.
I just find it very comical that "rules for thee but not for me" Roker has dug his own pit and fallen there in.
Were you there, did you see what actually happened, do you know the details? Believe it or not, there ARE actually racists in this world.
(And I’m sure there are people trying Trump right now who also say ‘It really does not matter. Trump’s a billionaire and he cheated all the poor American slobs. We don’t care if it’s true or not - and we’re not going to cry many tears when the wheel turns. He dug his own pit and fell into it’.)
The most that could have happened in this taxi case is that the Commission sent out a reiteration of its anti-discrimination policy. I doubt very much that any ‘poor slob’ had his life ruined, if he was even named in the complaint.
But attitudes like yours toward the *truth* could wind up TRULY ruining a man who was among the best presidents we’ve had.
Have a glass of water. Your leaps to conclusions to try to defend Roker the Racist are truly spectacular and must have left you parched.
I know there are racists in the world and Al Roker is one of them. And yeah, a lot more happened then just a sending out of a "reiteration of its anti-discrimination policy".
At the very least the driver received a fine and may have lost his medallion.
All because Roker the Racist could not believe that someone did not stop when he waved his little soft hand in the air.
I only repeated what YOU wrote. And I have no evidence that Roker is a racist. (Do you assume that EVERY Black person who acts on concerns about racist treatment is somehow a racist? Do you think they should just keep quiet about it?)
The driver apparently accepted his guilt, and was fined. His life wasn’t ruined.
So he hired the most qualified? Sheesh
I cannot quit laughing
WHO’s on first???
What is on second?
I don’t know is on 3rd.
