Ukr Disastrous Day: Rus Controls 50% Ocheretino, Ukr Admits Novomikhailovka Lost, Budanov Crisis (1 hour 26 minute YOUTUBE video. Small portion Transcribed)
YOUTUBE ^ | 3/11/2024 | Alexander Mercouris

Posted on 04/22/2024 8:42:56 PM PDT by ransomnote

Alexander Mercouris: The last 24 hours, or perhaps to be more precise, the last weekend has been a, actually, a consequential time over the course of the Ukraine crisis and, not indeed, just the Ukraine crisis, but in terms of global policy.

But I'm going to start first by providing the military update on the situation in the Ukraine, where the developments are becoming more dramatic by the hour. In fact, as I've said in previous programs, it does increasingly look as if events, the tempo of events, or at least to be more precise the tempo of Russian advances is accelerating.

Now, over the course of this morning, first thing to say though is in the course of this morning, I believe it's the 79th Brigade of the Ukrainian army has in an apparently extremely bitter message, admitted it has been forced out of Novomikhailovka, and that the village has fallen entirely under Russian control. This is a village of 1400 people before the war. It is a strategic location South of Marinka. It opens the way for a Russian advance further westwards towards the village of Paraskoviivka, and ultimately beyond Paraskoviivka to places like Kostyantynivka another fairly large village in this area. And ultimately towards toward Katerynivka cutting off the roads, the supply roads to (ransomnote: name of village I can't spell).

ransomnote: I used Google maps to get the spelling of village names.

https://www.google.com/maps/@47.8797127,37.3762245,12.94z?entry=ttu

Alexander Mercouris: Anyway, the particular brigade that I'm talking about, the Ukrainian brigade that was defending Novomikhailovka has been making some rather extraordinary comments in its various messages. Couple of days ago it claimed it had destroyed over 300 armored vehicles of the Russian army in the fight for Novomikhailovka, a figure which I think is massively exagerated, but it's the sort of thing that perhaps you would expect soldiers who've suffered a bitter defeat and who are very angry about that defeat to say, 'despite the fact that they've suffered this defeat, they've caused, they've inflicted these enormous losses on the Russians.

Apparently, in their (79th Brigade - UK) latest statement, admitting that Novomikhailovka has fully fallen under Russian control. They blame the Ukrainian high command. They say they've been given inadequate orders, inadequate supplies of ammunition, and inadequate re-inforcements, and that this was why they were finally driven from the village.

One senses behind all this anger, also fear presumably on the part of some of the brigade's middle and senior ranking officers that Syrskyi, now in charge (ransomnote: as of Feb 8, 2024), and with Zelensky egging him on, some of them are going to be blamed and criticized by the Ukrainian command for the loss of Novomikhailovka.

Anyway, all of that came from the Ukrainians, and shortly after, the Russian Defense Ministeey also confirm that Novomikhailovka has fallen fully under the control of the Russians.

~~~~END OF LITERAL TRANSCRIPTION. Just notes on a few more minutes of the video below.
ransomnote: I am having such a hard time transcribing names, I 'll stop transcribing here.
ransomnote's notes: Watching a few more minutes, the importance of the  capture of Novomikhailovka is said to be another means of encircling the Ukrainian army's major hub south of Donetsk. Mercouris describes other advances meant to further the plan to surround that Ukrainian hub. If the Russians take that area, it frees them to use the railway to move their supplies. The Ukrainians had defended Novomikhailovka for 6 months due to its strategic importance and therefore, for them it is a bitter loss.
Had Novomikhailovka been lost a few weeks ago, it would have been bigger news, but it is now overshadowed by the collapse of Ukrainian defenses north of Afdyevka (phonetic spelling). Extraordinary speed of events here suggests it is in this area the Russians are concentrating the 'most powerful strike elements of their army' which they have so far activated.
At the 12:30 minute mark, he embarks on a discussion of the importance of the  village of Ocheretino.
Russia has about 500K troops in Ukraine. Its ranged weapons includes ballistic and cruise missiles, howitzers and strike fighters. It outranges the Taliban 100x. Yet Ukraine is somehow stalemating this Russian force 10x the size of the Taliban
You full of it. There is NO STALEMATE. Russian is feeding the Ukrainian troops into its meat grinder, rooting out entrenched Ukrainian fortifications that have existed for a decade and GAINING DAILY. All this and Russia isn't a major offensive. The vast majority of the Russians forces in Ukraine are waiting in reserve and aren't on the battlefield.
You're spewing Baghdad-Bob level propaganda.
If there is a stalemate in Ukraine, genius, why is the BBC, an obviously biased, pro-Ukrainian source, post articles like this:
Ukraine aid package could help Kyiv slow Russia’s advance
Russia advancing, you ridiculous Zeeper, is NOT AN EXAMPLE OF A STALEMATE.
All we're doing by continuing this war is sending tens of thousand more Ukrainians to their deaths. THERE BLOOD IS ON THE HANDS OF THOSE THE VOTED FOR MORE AID FOR THIS DISASTEROUS PROXY WAR as well as people like you that support the legislation. And, if God is anything furious about that, you're mistaken.
Of course, Zeepers like you want take that bet
I wouldn't take your bet because you'd try to pay off in rubles.
And please, I'm a proud Neocon, not a "Zeeper". (Whatever that is.)
Not taking the bet is an admission you know I'm right and you've been spewing ridiculous propaganda, coming from the Biden regime, about this war.
The money has been laundered. Spare the ridiculous bullsh$t you've been spewing here.
In the General/Chat forum, on a thread titled Ukr Disastrous Day: Rus Controls 50% Ocheretino, Ukr Admits Novomikhailovka Lost, Budanov Crisis (1 hour 26 minute YOUTUBE video. Small portion Transcribed), Zhang Fei wrote:
I wouldn't call Ukraine's efforts pathetic. 2 years into Russia's war with Germany, Russia was still fighting well within its own empire's territory.
Who won? Russia or Germany?
If Ukraine is indeed at the breaking point, manpower-wise, it's astonishing that it has taken Russia at least 2 years to overrun a 1 sq mile hamlet of 800 people positioned right on the front lines.
No. It is not. Russia never wanted to flatten the Ukraine. Putin wanted a peaceful trading partner which obeyed the National Security agreements set re NATO, and in which Western Ukraine would cease bombing and killing Eastern Ukraine (they were 'exterminating' Ukrainians of Russian decent), and he wanted US biowarfare labs out of the region, particularly nearest his borders.
Putin was never targeting the public, as Zeepers falsely insist. Putin tried initially to display his capacity to destroy the infrastructure, hoping to drive the Ukraine to the negotiating table. On that table would be biowarfare labs, ceasation of bombing Eastern Ukraine, and return to prior agreements re NATO. But, NATO/BIden would never allow negotatiations because NATO wants regime change and is grinding up the Ukraine to get it. Had Putin wanted to level the Ukraine, he could have.
As pointed out earlier, Russia was still fighting on its own territory 2 years after the German invasion began. And this was with the US giving to the Russians 3% of the 1941 US GDP for each year of the war, which translated to among other things, 100,000 trucks, 14,000 airplanes and 13,000 tanks. Since 3% of GDP is roughly the current US defense budget, that's a pretty hefty number. And yet in that time, the Russians couldn't expel the Germans from their empire.
THIS WAR IS NOT BEING FOUGHT IN 1941! Things have changed. We're not talking about the Soviet empire nor the time period prior to fighter jets.
The reason the Ukraine was not reduced to a river of blood in the opening months is because Putin didn't want to kill the population - he wanted good relations with his slavic neighbors, not biolabs/NATO/shelling of Ukrainians of Russian descent.
With the upcoming revival of Ukraine's air force with the delivery of fresh air frames to replace the Soviet-era planes lost in combat or through wear and tear, a new phase of the war awaits. A military force with air cover can operate much more aggressively than a force without it. Much as Russian air power blunted the Ukrainian counter-offensive and bolstered the recent Russian advances, a revived UAF could finally provide the additional ranged firepower necessary for Ukraine to push towards pre-2014 boundaries.
Zelensky said about 1.5 years ago that tanks are great but the Ukraine couldn't win without advanced fighter jets. He never got them. He was to have Ukrainian pilots with sufficient English language skills learn how to fly the F-16 and he said it would only take a couple of months. That's absurd, of course, to position 2 month trainees against veteran Russian pilots. But 1 year later, Zelensky still doesn't have his pilots ready to fly. He was never promised enough planes to match Putin's fleet. Meantime, Putin has had seasoned pilots and air superiority over the battlefield, raining death down on Ukraine's helpless under-equipped conscripts, as most regular Ukrainian military are dead.
The prior military Leader (Zaluzny -sp?) said in an interview with The Economist, that he knew what he needed to win, and he knew he could not have it because his NATO partners didn't have it to give.
The Ukraine's leaders can come right out and say we can't win without X or Y and their apologists will do a victory dance if they destroy a war ship. Ukraine hasn't lost a single ship!!! Why? Because Ukraine doesn't have a single war ship.
These comparisons to an entirely different war 80 years ago are pointless. The Russian citizenry were unarmed, but fought German troops in hand to hand combat miles from Moscow. They won. They can fight.
Colonel Macgregor has spoken of the honor and courage of Ukrainian fighters - they are not dismissed as unworthy. But they have never had, nor will they ever have, the numbers, training, weapons, ammunition and equipment, jets and air support and medical evac capacity they need.
When I see you people 'celebrating' theft of American tax dollars to fund the war the Ukraine lost a long time ago, I think of Ukrainian men and boys, and some women according to video footage, groaning in pain while needlessly dying in trenches. They know they are under equipped, they know they lack training and they are fighting trained Russian soldiers, they know they're going to die for NATO's war and it won't change a thing.
It's pathetic in a heart breaking way - this propaganda push to yell 'Slava Ukraine!' if the CIA/NATO forces shoot down a Russian missile; it doesn't change the reality that the Ukraine is being turned to a pile of mud and blood in the fight - and no  one is coming to rescue them, let alone train them.
You have no idea about how rockets/artillery is used. It’s used best in fast maneuver plans. Yes Ukes can take their pot shots but it’s no substitute for ground forces in maneuvers in close support. Big rocket just shot won’t make that big of a differential and I am willing to bet we don’t have many. ATACMS 1.4M per shot GMLRS 150-180K per shot.
You've absolutely nailed it. The whole sordid scene is sickening beyond belief at this point. And to think that thousands of lowlifes in both the US and in Youcrayne are making fortunes off the deaths of young men and women who, at this point, are dying for absolutely nothing.
A pox on the warmongers and globalist/Dem/RINO scum using our money to keep this meat grinder churning - in spite of the risk of sparking off WWIII and further fueling pointless slaughter.
Yes, Zeepers, keep screeching, "RuZZia invaded because Hitler V Putin wants to rule the world" blablablabla 'effin blah. You all act like this war began because of that simplistic, willfully ignorant assertion when in fact all sides involved in the mess share blame for it.
So keep cheering for more blood and death, keep cheering for the waste of our tax money, keep cheering for more death and destruction even as Youcrayne's population falls off a cliff. It's what you do - cheer for death and gloat over the deaths of "RuZZZian" soldiers. Vile.
If this war is stoked to the point that it leads to Western boots on the ground in the corrupt craphole country you worship, may it be only you, your families and your fellow cheerleaders who are made to saddle up and go fight for your little greasy, grifting, satanist appointing, piano d*ck-playing, gay-dancing "hero."
It's a mental affliction called "Zeeperthink," a very close cousin of Orwell's "Doublethink" :
"Doublethink is a process of indoctrination in which subjects are expected to simultaneously accept two conflicting beliefs as truth, often at odds with their own memory or sense of reality.[1] Doublethink is related to, but differs from, hypocrisy."
