ransomnote: I confess I kept the unattractive image of her below even though I could have retaken the screenshot to get a 'fair and balanced' image of her, but she's against all that because it supports the 'White Male' canon...so her pic is below as is. Video is less than 2 minutes in length.

TRANSCRIPT BEGINS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Katherine Maher: I started by talking about the idea of free and open information as some of our founding principles 'Free and open source' coming from the idea of the open source community .
Well, I have come to the opinion and the perspective that 'free and open' was a way of looking at the world that was inherently limited relative to what we were trying to achieve.
'Free and open' has the best of intentionality, but in the end, what 'free and open' often ended up doing, particularly in the case of Wikipedia, was recapitulating many of the same power structures and dynamics that exist offline, prior to the advent of the Internet.
And so what we ended up seeing was Wikipedia really rebuilt this idea of knowledge as a whole around what, the Western canon.
We see the exclusion of communities, of languages, because of the ways in which Wikpedia Is based on reliable sources, the idea of a written tradition, which is particular to some cultures and not to others.
The ways in which we ascribe notability often really comes some of this white male Westernized construct around who matters in societies, and who is elevated and who is voiceless.
And so some of these ideas of, sort of this, radical openness really did not end up living into the intentionality of what openness can be.TRANSCRIPT ENDS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ransomnote: This woman seems to function like the Typhoid Mary of wokeness, having moved on to 'help' NPR undermine American values and the First Amendment. Here's a related post.
It is Owellian powermadness.
What a sourpuss.
I’d like to offer her a free helicopter ride with my dear friend, Agusto, as her pilot.

SHE IS THE EMBODIMENT OF WHITE PRIVILEGE.
Maher grew up in Wilton, Connecticut, and attended Wilton High School. After high school, Maher graduated from the Arabic Language Institute’s Arabic Language Intensive Program of The American University in Cairo in 2003, which she recalled as a formative experience that developed her interest in the Middle East.
Maher subsequently studied at the Institut français d’études arabes de Damas in Syria and spent time in Lebanon and Tunisia.
In 2005, Maher received a bachelor’s degree from New York University in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies.
A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Maher worked for UNICEF, the National Democratic Institute, the World Bank and Access Now before joining the Wikimedia Foundation. She subsequently joined the Atlantic Council and the US Department of State’s Foreign Affairs Policy Board.
Liberals always go communist in the end.
I could be wrong, but this woman appears to be a water-headed moron.
Hockey helmet, and a Yellow Bus. ;)
It was mostly white men who created the internet.
Exactly. This virtue-signaling halfwit apparently thinks it’s essential to incorporate mud-hut “culture” into ours. I’d love to see her spend about a week among them, getting “enriched”.
“enriched” Indeed.
Dumb as a bag of rocks.
She must love the BBC...
“because those principles recapitulated a “white male Westernized construct””
That construct is what produced the societies that the rest of the world’s population wants to immigrate into.
I’d like her to compare the White Male Westernized Construct with other Constructs on the planet.
“The ways in which we ascribe notability often really comes some of this white male Westernized construct...”
She is a certifiable lunatic.
When I was a teenager I read Ayn Rand’s Anthem, which describes a futuristic dystopian society where the scientific method, among other things, was abolished because it was evil. I breathed a sigh of relief since I positively knew that it could never happen here. I plead the ignorance of youth.
It is happening now. The entire novel is happening now. Rand wrote that novella in 1938, admitted it was not her best work, but it turns out to be the most prophetically accurate.
And I am so very tired of white liberal women and their radicalized ideas and agendas! She is just another crazy liberal white woman who needs to have a lobotomy.
Katherine Maher is to journalism as Claudine Gay is to scholarship.
Did she actually say something?
