In the wake of OJ Simpson’s death, several black commentators have revealed the dark underside of race relations in America by suggesting that black Americans were glad that he got away with murdering two white people.
In 1995, a jury of nine blacks, one Hispanic, and two whites acquitted Simpson of the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman despite “a mountain of evidence” that he was guilty. Many commentators at the time saw the acquittal of Simpson as an example of jury nullification, when a jury members defy a judge’s instructions on the law and acquit a defendant who has been proven guilty for their own biased reasons.
CNN reporter Stephanie Elam’s raised eyebrows Thursday when she almost said many [black] people were happy OJ got away with murder.
“Because of that racial unrest in the ’90s, that is why so many people, who may not have been invested in OJ Simpson, were just happy to see that someone who is rich and famous, and black, could get away with,” Elam began before catching herself and continuing, “what other people did in the system as well, too.”
CNN Contributor Ashley Allison made a similar comments Thursday, suggesting that the black community were rooting for OJ “particularly because there were two white people who had been killed.”
Allison formerly worked in the Obama White House as the Deputy Director in the Office of Public Engagement, and also worked on Joe Biden’s presidential campaign as well as his transition team. — was weighing in on the racial tensions that pervaded the country during the Simpson trial and its aftermath.
She said the Simpson case stoked the racial tensions stemming from the Rodney King riots of 1991.
“It was so racially charged because of what had happened just before with Rodney King, but also just how black Americans feel about policing,” Allison said.
“He wasn’t a social justice leader, but he represented something for the black community in that moment, in that trial, particularly because there were two white people who had been killed. And the history around how black people have been persecuted during slavery,” she added, going on to suggest that black people will continue to harbor murderous resentment toward white people until we “deal with the issue of race.”
“Until this country is ready to actually have an honest conversation about the racial dynamics from our origin story until today, we will always have moments like O.J. Simpson that manifests and our country will always be divided if we don’t actually deal with the issue of race,” Allison said. “And the history around how black people have been persecuted during slavery.”
Marc Lamont Hill, another black political pundit and a CUNY professor, also sparked outrage after he wrote on his X account that Simpson may have been “an abusive liar” and a “monster” who “killed two people in cold blood,” but his acquittal “was the correct and necessary result of a racist criminal legal system.”
Hill later defended his post, claiming that Mark Fuhrman, the detective from the Los Angeles Police Department who worked the case, “was caught lying” about having referred to black people with racist epithets.
Hill also pointed out that Fuhrman pleaded the Fifth when asked whether he planted evidence in the Simpson case.
“That raises legal doubt,” Hill argued. “That’s why the verdict was proper.”
“Regardless of race, the system has to be fair,” he added.
Fuhrman has claimed in interviews that he had used the “N Word” in an effort to create dialog while helping an author write a screenplay for a police movie. The author taped the sessions proving that he had uttered the “N” word dozens of times while consulting with her. After the tapes were played, Furhman said he had no choice but to plead the Fifth Amendment when the defense called him to the stand.
The problem is when you do offer to sit at the table, the other side puts unreasonable conditions on any conversation, then calls us racist if we don’t bend over. I for one will never accept that anymore.
Astute Americans knew darn well that black folks felt this way all along. We also knew that they would channel this anger towards white folks, especially after the Reginald Denny case. We watched the racism from black folks ramp up to a fever pitch back when George Zimmerman was falsely accused of murder, and watched the black community blatantly ignore all of the facts of the case because of their racial hatred for white folks.
In case after case since then, it has become clear that the black community feels that their crimes are justified, that they are above the law (because liberal states keep releasing g them without trial for crimes that criminal black folks co mit), and it has become very clear that facts do not matter to them especially when a cop is white. There were mountains of evidnece proving Chauvin was innocent, but that didn’t matter- the black community wanted blood, and they got it when Chauvin was stabbed nearly to death in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
We,ww5ched as another innocent white person had to run for his life, and unfortunately had to defend himself by shooting his attackers who were trying to murder him, and we watched the black community ignore the facts of the case, and threaten jurors, trying to intimidate them- a crime BTW.
The left do not want black America getting along with white America- beczuse that isn’t news. They want riots, they want to,instigate racism and coerce the black community to ignore facts and concentrate on skin color only.
Now weseethe black community outright admitting that they hate white folks and were glad that oj got away with murder. They don’t want to get along- that is evident
It really tickles me to no end whenever “ the dark underside “ of race relations is mentioned, its always by fools who know nothing about the real world and/ or dark skinned people
The same thing happens between the jews and the palestinians who hate them. The jews always have to give a lot while the palis only give a little- for instance, the newest demand was for israel to release 400 palestinian terrorists who were in prison for trying to murder jews, and palistine would release only a few hostages- if they could find a few that were still alive.
Evil certainly has the upper hand... for now- Christ will rectify all that though.
I would say that by and large most black Americans are centrist and don’t hate anyone. As usual, the violent fringe elements of society are ginning up hatred as they’re wont to do.
Duh
Now you’re making sense.
A few hundred of us gathered in the corporate employee cafeteria to watch the verdict on some televisions that had been wheeled in for the event.
The black employees all cheered.
So Nicole and Ronald getting snuffed is a kind of reparation for slavery.
I’m sorry but all you have to do is tell black people that someone is racist, or used a racist word, or anything that even slightly sounds like racism, and they will become angry and hateful toward that person even if there is no proof of it.
So all they had to do was say Fuhrman was racist and it became OK for OJ to slit white throats.
Preposterous arguments that the police switched blood samples and faked DNA results, etc
And no reason on earth the police would have wanted to frame OJ who was a hero.
And who had exclaimed to Rosie Greer “I killed two people! “
We all have become used to the OJ Simpson story. But my dad passed away shortly before this happened.
It often crossed my mind that if dad came back and asked me what happened since he was gone, the first thing I could shock him with is that OJ Simpson committed a double murder.
Prior to this, OJ was seen a nothing but a hero.
📌
Whites were told this was "payback" for racism, police brutality, and Rodney King.
The verdict was straight up minority nullification because of race and Rodney King.
You know how to read?.
That average person would SEE the hatred if he/she only started looking more closely at all these NYC reports of old people, young people being pushed of subway platforms, shoved down stairs, bludgeoned with bricks, sticks, and pipes
They are saying the quiet part out loud now.
Mark Fuhrman/s testimony was devastating to the prosecution, as it clearly emphasized the racism that the defense wanted to use as an excuse to allow OJ to skate.
Fuhrman lied about his choice of words, but that was clearly a deflection away from the actual evidence he presented.
I believe you're right. Many years ago, I worked with an IT contractor who was a black man. I asked him if it was true that most black Americans hate white Americans? His answer was yes. I wasn't surprised. Most Black Americans have been taught from birth that whitey is the source of all their problems. The disproportionate black on white violence and felonies we see every day in the news supports this reality.
