Scenario #1) The world thinks the US is walking away from Israel. Screw ‘em! They’re on their own! And then Iran attacks, and Israel responds by nuking Tehran.

Scenario #2) Israel explains scenario #1 to the Biden Admin and suggests that it might be better if the US comes out and pledges to support Israel, thereby perhaps forestalling an Iranian attack.

Looks to me like they’re trying Scenario #2.
