In N.J. and the northeast the coyotes are different than the true western coyote. Ours are a hybrid of coyote, wolf, and dog. 70 lbs is not uncommon, and they don’t seem to be timid either. A neighbor had one feeding on a dead deer in her yard. She was on her back deck watching it. When it noticed her, it started to walk towards her, in a crouch, teeth barred. She ran inside in a flash. Called us, told us to watch out and worried for our dog.

White tail deer tend to be bigger in WNY through the Ohio valley and the Midwest. This is because there are a lot more dairy farms in this area. Which means there are millions of acres of cow corn/silage planted. Up in the Adirondack mountains/Appalachian Mountains and New England there are not the farms.

The deer up here in New England only have acorns to eat for a fat source. They eat your bushes from your house. They eat my rhododendrons, hollys, tulips, grass, tree bark, bird seed, apples, pumpkins, etc. The deer don't get that big because there is no cow corn, alfalfa, and other commercial corps around here.

I agree. I love that mantra. Whether you are miserable or happy in life is often up to you, and you alone.

Perspective, FRiend. Perspective.

Yes, I know. Problem is we like the same stuff. Tomatoes, peppers, cukes, lettuce, squash, beans, all kinds of veggies. They can clear a 6 foot fence, no problem. Going to try an electric one this year. Would work for the woodchucks and racoons too.

Yes, we had a bear in our yard a year ago, just passing through. Big fellow, had to be over 400 lbs.

I would invite you to bowhunt my backyard, if my town would let me.

Two years ago, there was a midge-borne disease killing deer, dead deer everywhere.

Dead animal removal companies were charging $800 to remove a carcass. There are cheaper methods.

How about the Exploding Whale?

This is hilarious, as in the video (found at: LINK: Remastered "Exploding Whale") as the spectators admiring "Ooooohs" and "Ahhhhs" immediately changed to "AIEEEEEE!" as they frantically ran away trying to escape the fine rain of rotting whale blubber!

Was just trying to explain the lore of the “World Famous Exploding Whale” to someone a few days ago. So glad it’s been remastered and thank you for the link!

"Few things are more annoying than exploding deer."

Exploding penguins on top of your television set are much more annoying.

"...we have a ridiculous amount of whitetail deer..."

... and you'll soon have a ridiculous amount of Chronic Wasting Disease.

My brother Dave, bags two a season. He is better at the bow, even pretty good during muzzle loader. Lots of coyote kills in South Jersey. He has come across quite a few carcuse. That blue tongue disease has taken out lots too.

Blue tongue disease? Guess I need to check on that, I haven’t heard of it, don’t think it is around here.
