I was apparently dumb enough to move to a part of Florida that’s going to be cloudy tomorrow.

Today we use “eclipse glasses”. Don’t pull them off and look at the sun like Marge Simpson did and end up at the hospital.

I'm going up to a part of northern Vermont tomorrow where totality will happen. And they're predicting perfect weather!
Next week I have an appointment with my retina specialist. I'm gonna ask her if she's seen any patients with retina damage due to the eclipse.

Pleasantly integrated school room. Everyone looking nice and neat and respectful. I think we’re supposed to think of this as Bad Old Days.

Meh.. Seen one eclipse, seen ‘em all.

Maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve never had the urge to stare directly at the sun, for the same reason I never had the urge to hit myself with a hammer.
It hurts.

Clouds but I’ll watch for idiots running around with their hands in the air yelling \o/ , LOL

Serious question, one I realize that the answer might be obvious. However, I will risk the fool to ask it.
As cameras have become so high definition, 16k some of them, is there a risk in watching an eclipse from the high end cameras or is there now some risk in using them to watch an eclipse through?

When I was little we would stare at the sun until it made us sneeze.

If you are near some trees with the sunlight filtering through to a flat surface such as a driveway or sidewalk, you will see lots of little eclipses on the ground

During an actual total eclipse the sun is completely obscured. That is literally the literal meaning of the word eclipse. During the time of the literally literal totally total totality there is no danger of eye damage.

I just realized that today's eclipse happens to coincide with a New Moon.
Imagine how much more spectacular this eclipse would be if we had a full moon!

No self respecting boy would come to elementary school in the 1960s without a pocket knife.
Also, this schoolteacher is a perfect composite of all the school teachers I had back in the day.
No tomfoolery back then!
