These bottoms are getting a bum rap.
Bootcut, low-rise, skinny or straight — jeans reign supreme as a stylish staple in most wardrobes worldwide.
For decades, denim designs have graced the dapper derrière likes of Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Taylor Swift and Kanye West.
The haute timelessness of the togs notwithstanding, recent research from Guangdong University of Technology found that wearing a pair of fast-fashion jeans just once creates a whopping 2.50 kg of carbon emissions. The environmental wear-and-tear of the pants is equivalent to driving 6.4 miles in an average gasoline-powered car.
“This study took jeans as an example to reveal the carbon footprint of fast fashion consumption and its additional climate impacts compared to traditional fashion,” wrote the authors of the new report, set for publishing in May 2024.
“Jeans production and cross-broad transportation contributed 91 % of the carbon footprint of fast fashion consumption,” added the experts.
And they’re not just pulling your leg.
To determine the CO2 effects, scientists followed the life cycle of a pair of jeans that were quickly produced, shipped, worn, washed and discarded after about seven uses.
The stages are all part of speedy sequences that most modern clothes follow owing to the increasingly buzzy “fast-fashion” trend. The movement sees retailers such as Shein, Zara, BooHoo and Forever 21 using an excess of resources and energy to crank out cutesy swag at accelerated rates.
It’s a hurried process to answer the growing demand of chronic shopaholics who want the latest and greatest looks at low costs.

Bad headline. Fast fashion, or trash fashion, wear it only a few times and toss it, produces a lot waste and uses a lot of carbon.
Wear a pair of jeans hundreds of times, no guilt
I’m not sure when I purchased mine but they have to be at least 15 years old.
“a pair of jeans that were quickly produced, shipped, worn, washed and discarded after about seven uses.”
Seven uses? Buy jeans that are darker in color with less pre-washing. Don’t automatically wash them after every use if they don’t need it. They will last longer.

Guangdong???
Take your Guangdong and shove it...!!!
There must be a bug-based fabric about to be introduced. The feds will mandate a 50 percent market share by 2030 and 100 percent by 2035.

A Chinese study? Worrying about the “carbon footprint” of jeans? What BS. It is an attack on western culture trying to convince everyone they need to wear chairman Mao uniforms.
Note to self: buy more jeans soon. Before they are banned and I have to make my own out of home-tanned deerskin.
Mao suits for everyone
Liberals are truly insane.
in the 1980s I met an old Chinese woman (in Hong Kong) who was a young, urban Shanghai radical/intellectual in the 1930s.
They believed all the propaganda and went to Yan An - the communist base in NW China
She said it opened her eyes - Some of the top people (like Mao) were intellectuals, but the most trusted communist cadres were illiterate and brutal men. If they took over a village, the people either signed up for the Red Army, or they were shot. The young women, like her, who showed up were divided up into their harems to be cleaners, cooks for the revolutionaries, and the best looking ones were taken as mistresses and sex-slaves.
She managed to escape - and became an ardent anti-communist
[Oh well back to leather and fur.]
And you eliminate some co2 producers too. Win win!
Let’s make it mandatory for “journalists” who push global warming nonsense stories to calculate and post their carbon footprint from “writing” their story. Fuel to get to work, electricity to run their computer, lights in their office, etc.
In this case, which is greater, wearing jeans or spreading lies?
Now this assumes they can calculate anything beyond counting on their fingers and toes.
Stupid people pass edicts and national policy like sh—.
Just don't exhale any CO2 while you're out.
If I understand the article correctly, you won't be allowed to do that. You can still drive your SUV but you can't be wearing pants. Like I do now. It makes traffic stops much more interesting.
it’s like trying to argue with insane asylum inmates- You can’t win because they are incapable of understanding logic and common sense, and because they ignore facts, such as ‘man’s CO2 is nowhere near enough to change the climate one iota-”
But most importantly, the CO2 that we and every other vertebrate exhale enables plant life to thrive. CO2 is not a so called "Greenhouse Gas", but is the other half of the "Cycle of Life."
When they're exposed to light, green plants use carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to manufacture living matter and release oxygen into the air. This process is called photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is produced through the respiration of animals and plants, which consume oxygen and release carbon dioxide. The so called "carbon footprint" is a the boogeyman created to destroy our "Western Civilization."
Doesn’t that make concealed carry more of a challenge, though?
