WASHINGTON, Wednesday, April 6.
The following important order has just been issued:
WAR DEPARTMENT, ADJUTANT-GENERAL's OFFICE, WASHINGTON, Monday, April 4.
By direction of the President of the United States the following changes and assignments are made in army corps commands:
Major-Gen. P.H. Sheridan is assigned to the command of the Cavalry Corps of the Army of the Potomac.
The Eleventh and Twelfth Army Corps are consolidated and will be called First Army Corps. Major-Gen. J. Hooker is assigned to command.
Maj.-Gen. Gordon Granger is relieved from the command of the Fourth Army Corps, and Maj.-Gen. O.O. Howard, is assigned in his stead.
Maj.-Gen. Schofield is assigned to the command of the Twenty-third Army Corps.
Maj.-Gen. Slocum will report to Maj.-Gen. Sherman, commanding the Division of the Mississippi, and Maj.-Gen. Stoneman will report to Maj.-Gen. Schofield, commanding the Department of the Ohio, for assignment.
Maj.-Gen. Granger will report by letter to the Adjutant-General of the Army.
Capt. Horace Porter, United States Ordnance Department, is announced as an Aid-de-Camp to Lieut.-Gen. Grant, with rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.

That portion of this order relating to the consolidation of the Eleventh and Twelfth Corps has been amended so as to denominate this consolidation the Twentieth, instead of the First Corps.
Among a large number of military nominations considered by the Senate Military Committee to-day, was that of Gen. SCHOFIELD, which, after much discussion, was again hung up.
The case of Gen. GILLMORE came next. Senators who had investigated his operations before Charleston were of the opinion that the results attained by him did not entitle him to honor of promotion above his present rank. His nomination was postponed.

Trying to imagine generals,back then being told that they are now in charge of commanding men in dresses and wigs and chest prosthetics. And being in charge of “diversity classes” and the “re-education of those who will not comply with lgbtq demands”
They must be rolling in their Graves over what the mi,itary has become.
