A fearless Queens mother sprang into action when an alleged stalker tried kidnapping her teen daughter from their Astoria apartment building, according to police and shocking video footage.
A doorbell camera captured the courageous moment Adriana Alvarez sprinted after the deli worker — who’d allegedly become obsessed with her 18-year-old daughter, Lex — as he violently dragged her down the stairs.
Dramatic video shows how the nightmare unfolded just after 9 a.m...

Will the mom be charged?
Great ending. Side note - where’s the father? Just a personal observation. I’m noticing that fathers are less prevalent in our society today.
This took place just up the street from where my son lives.
Possibly, if not to just show disapproval of self-defense. That, self-defense, is NOT a human right according to progressives. The 2nd Amendment = self-defense, which is why progressives want your guns. All of them. Like in the UK and now in Canada.
The courts had acknowledged that the perp had already tried twice to abduct the young woman directly from the street by their having issued a restraining order.
What goon looking to kidnap a girl like that is going to pay any attention to such an order?
Another criminal NY should have had off the streets before his latest crime.
Wow, actually coming into the building and dragging the kid down the stairs at 9am.
Spotting and grabbing her off the sidewalk out front, then pulling her into a waiting car maybe. But inside the building and down the stairs in broad daylight!
Heck of a Mom.
This happened at 9am. Father probably at work.
At least he was a thoughtful guy.
Wow, what a tiger of a mom.
From the article. Just saying it's too bad that the father wasn't around. But at least she was able to stand up and protect her daughter. Maybe now she should carry to protect her family (even though the laws are difficult in NYC).
One reason my folks moved out of NYC before I could walk, never mind shoot.
I've been over this with so many friends who think a TRO is anything but a scrap of paper, and "guns are so scary."
Same here, not judging, just guessing. If Dad were in the picture he'd be in the article. Also, if Dad were in the picture this would never have happened, since predators are often discouraged by protective males in intact families. This isn't his first attack on her. I suspect he was emboldened by her lack of father and brother. But -- we don't know.
Unfortunately, predators look for weak prey. It's what they do. Protective fathers are always a deterrent.
I missed that part.
In this particular moment, whether there was a father or not, doesn’t matter. Someone was present to save the girl. What if mom wasn’t home? didn’t hear the scream?
If there was a father present. the perp probably would not have stalked the girl. But he was obsessed so he probably would have.
I’m not too happy the media is advertising “single mom”. Endangers her a bit... or people will become more vigilant. A two way street.
Usually, he'll move on to the next target.

They need to pull the article. Media is trying to make it a feel good story. But our society is sick.
I hope not.
