That’s the one where Blofeld plots destruction of the world beer industry.

Yes Cumberbach has played a vast number of roles. He is a veteran theater actor among other things. His list of productions is rather formidable.
He was in Warhorse and 1917 if you want another type of character.
He can certainly do the “brutality” part of Ian Flemings character. And he does look the part, as described by Fleming.

The one Bond film I loathe. Lazenby was AWFUL. Stiff, awkward, yet somehow smarmy and pretentious. Smooth wasn’t in his repertoire AT ALL.
His voice was also less-than-pleasant.
Yeah, I’ll NOPE RIGHT OUT of Lazenby.

I had only heard of him because he is married to a woman 23 years older than him, and is a director.

I actually hated Bond movies *until* Daniel Craig got the role. They were always way too silly for me. I love all of the Craig movies except the last, but I know he was tired of the role at that point and allowed them to backslide to some of the old silliness. Skyfall is one of my all-time favorite movies.

Jason Mamoa was doing the same thing, but he finally cut it off with Lisa Bonet, who was 12 years older.
It’s certainly a weird fad. Makes me think they’re probably controlled.

he's no Sean ConneryNo one is. Nor ever will be. The one and only 007.

Doesn’t matter one way or another - the Bond franchise has long lost its charm and has run its course. You're 100% right.
But I can write a script. But it'll never get approved in Hollywood today. James Bond is too much of a womanizer. Way too masculine. Which is unacceptable.
In other words, James Bond does not survive in this world. Our culture that produced James Bond no longer exists today.
To: nickcarraway
They can replace Sean Connery, kinda, but they’ll never find a successor to Honor Blackman.
