My first thought was why anyone would want an alligator that big, but after reading the guy owned it for over 30 years and the government changed the rules, I'm in his corner.
Excessive government strikes again.

“numerous health issues,” including blindness in two eyesOut of how many eyes?
To: where's_the_Outrage?
The department added that the alligator has “numerous health issues,” including blindness in two eyes and complications with its spine. Only TWO of its eyes? What about the rest of them?
Or could someone learn to write and say *both its eyes*?

I wonder what triggered all that violence? He seems so gentle. I see what it is. Nobody has ever just sat down and honestly talked to that (gator).

There’s a lot more to the story that is being published, and that alligator had been abused. It had a number of health problems because it had not been outside in the sunlight. The guy hadn’t clean the alligator pool in seven years and a lot of other things.
To: HartleyMBaldwin
The blindness was due to vitamin deficiencies, that the alligator or suffering from along with the number of other alarming health issues

Poor gator. I hope it survives that abuse and thrives in a river somewhere. I saw a lot of them on many trips driving across the Everglades from Naples to go shopping in Miami. We had one in our pool one time, called Animal Control who fished it out of the pool and drove it back to the Glades.

Gators are everywhere where I live. They really do need sunlight to stay healthy.
