An autistic boy was shot dead by police in California after he ran towards them with a bladed gardening tool, according to officials.
Harrowing bodycam footage shows the moment Ryan Gainer, 15, runs out of his Apple Valley in San Bernardino county on Saturday and towards the deputies.
A deputy is heard saying, 'Hey get back! Get back or you're gonna get shot,' before opening fire.
Police showed up at his home after receiving a 911 call reporting the teen was assaulting family members and damaging property, as reported by KTLA.
According to an official report, Gainer charged at the officers with the five-foot-long gardening tool as soon as they arrived.
A deputy said he tried to get away but opened fire after the teen chased after him.
'Without provocation, Gainer raised the bladed end of the tool and ran toward the deputy,' the release stated.
'The deputy retreated, and Gainer chased the deputy in an attempt to assault him with the bladed end of the tool.'
Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived, but the teen was later declared dead at the hospital.
No deputies were injured in the incident, which is under investigation by the police department's specialized investigations division.
During the 911 call, Gainer's sister reported that he was attacking one of their siblings and trying to break a window and door.

I really don't know what more the police could have done except hired Robert Muldoon from Jurassic Park and had him use the tazer guns he used on the Raptors "SHOOT HER!!! SHOOT HER!!!"
No problem in life is improved upon by calling police.
Who called the cops?
Was it the family?
If so, maybe the family got exactly the result it wanted.
A 15 year old boy with a non firearm. I am sure the cops “feared for their life” and tasing was not an option.
Unfortunately the police are trained to always go for the kill if they are going to shoot. This is one of those cases where they could have shot the kid in the leg and ended the confrontation with little danger to themselves.
Your 15 year old is going around swinging a bladed gardening tool (I guess DM means weeding sickle?) in rage and anger so who do you call?
21 foot rule.
The particular five foot long gardening tool that Gainer charged at the officers with is known as a scythe.
Google how many officers are wounded by bladed weapons and the term “tueller drill”.

Call the police if you want him shot and killed.
Don't want him shot and killed? Better figure something out.
Yes the family.
I guess they thought the kid would calm down as soon as he saw the police out there but no the kid came charging right at the officer with the garden tool out of the front door of their home. The officer tried to run back but in the end had no choice but to shoot.
BS
If the taser wasn’t already in his hand, it was too late. And if he wasn’t a threat to the family, why did they call the cops?
Not sure what tool he was holding but there are some that could do a lot of damage with one blow.
“Just shoot them in the leg” is the most ill-informed argument that comes up when there is an officer involved shooting. The people making the argument should just state that they haven’t the slightest idea of what they’re talking about and be done with it.

Nonsense…..some problems are .

This one was. Good thing the police were called. Better the teen was killed than an innocent family member.
When deadly force is used, the cops have every right to use deadly force back.
“This is one of those cases where they could have shot the kid in the leg…”
Did you forget the sarcasm tag, or do all your life experiences come from watching TV?
“No problem in life is improved upon by calling police.”
Whoa
If you see three thugs walking down your street breaking car windows you don’t want the police to help ?
