Killing the Oregon Forests

Joshua 1:9 (King James Version) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

You would think after over five years of working on the Kill the Lumber Industry Plan the Liberal Forestry Board members would have a few reasons why they have to pass it. They had nothing other than blaming the Fed mandates was the only reason they needed to shut down the forests for seventy years and nothing else.

The four Bored Members who were avid lock her up environmentalists who obviously hated the lumber industry and worshiped the trees had zero reasons why they voted the way they did. By destroying their Spotted Owl excuse, they had nothing to grab onto and you could see giant gaps where they were supposed to drop their main reason and zip.

They had no answers to how this would stop the massive forest fires they have been experiencing over the past decade and admitted it will likely make fires much worse although having no way to pay for putting them out. They had no explanation of how this will make the forests healthier when everyone in the room knows an unmanaged forest will just get worse and they had no explanation of how they can stop the degradation of these forests.

All they had was one board member who is a transvestite who basically runs the board who dropped some two-dollar words explaining how he taught at OSU and some other places around the world. He obviously has never worked in the forests and only studied them, most likely from a let them burn theory with no real-world experience. He never said how the forests would stop and said the word commonality of species to basically replace the Spotted Owl fraud he spewed for his last fifty years.

It was a real contrast in styles where the outnumbered side had some real fighters who brought facts and figures such as the Forestry Department going from making around a hundred million dollars for schools and services to losing around 80 million dollars and this will cause them to lose another 40-80 million to basically making nothing once the forests are all burned down.

Betsy Ross Johnson had the best rant as she pointed out how the Forestry Department wanted to dump the Elliott Forest which used to pay for all the schools and universities in Oregon pre-Spotted Owl, on OSU. OSU later found they had lied about the losses they were taking and it was a no harvest forest and OSU said thanks but no thanks. She showed how dishonest the forestry board is and when they say they will increase harvests they are simply blowing smoke.

The three fighting to stop the shutdown pointed out the need to manage the forests, the massive pollution during fires and massive bug kills in unmanaged and post burn forests give fact after fact and it was like spitting into the wind. They pointed out the fact Oregon has the largest most productive forests in the world and the state is importing 40% of its lumber from Canada and other foreign sources. They even pointed out the Spotted Owl was being hunted by the Barred Owl which took away the Left’s main talking point.

The surprising part was the absolute lack of an argument from the Left as to why this was necessary. It actually came down to Fed mandates and being sued, which most likely was the Sierra Club suing every timber sale and nothing else. They admitted they are closing down the state forests for no reason which means it really is to kill the lumber industry which they most likely do not want in Oregon. They really gave no other reason.

The coup de grace was after they had pushed their agenda through which nobody changed their vote. This was only to satisfy legal requirements before they abused their power, one of the weasels tried to make nice. He tried to have a kumbaya look how far we have come discussion and the ones who got torched got up and left.

Five years and how many millions of dollars to come up with a plan the Sierra Club wrote, and they had no real reasons how this helps the forests, its habitat or the wildlife let alone the state of Oregon. It helps the rich Sierra Club lawyers and lobbyists and nothing else.

The good news is exposing the Spotted Owl Fraud exposed them for who they are and the real reason they want the state lands closed. They hate the lumber industry and nothing else. They do not care about the Spotted Owl, the salmon, the wildlife or even the trees, they will do whatever it takes to end the cutting of trees. It is time to close the Oregon Forestry Department which is now a communist stronghold and find a better way to truly manage the forests.

Pray for Oregon

"the state is importing 40% of its lumber from Canada"

Just like oil. It's OK to get from somewhere else and pay a lot more for.

Part of the overall plan to stopping “lumbering” in forests is to build up the groound level trash that will support a wildfire.
WFires are essential to supporting the global warming scam. When it looks about right a SocialJusticeWarrior will be dispatched to light it off.

This continues the taxpayer dollars that can be skimmed.

Envirowackos focused on the NORTHERN Spotted Owl because further South the exact same critter was thriving.

My husband’s cousin was a lumberjack in the ‘70s. Then the spotted owl came along and he lost his job. They managed to make do and started their own business but in the end his wife had to run the business most of the summer because he was out there fighting fires and making money hand over fist.

I forgot to say this was in Oregon. To top it all off when the kids were grown and the business was established and they had cell phones his wife went to work running lunches, snacks and bottled water to the base camps.

The Oregon Board of Forestry is a seven-member citizen board appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the state Senate. The mission of the board is to lead Oregon in implementing policies and programs that promote sustainable management of Oregon’s public and private forests. Their primary responsibilities are to:

Supervises all matters of forest policy within Oregon
Appoints the State Forester
Adopts rules regulating forest practices
Provides general supervision of the State Forester’s duties in managing ODF

The three pro-lumber board members were very well spoken and made excellent points, its just the tree worshipers outvoted them.

Forests for Oregon wants to begin homesteading the state lands since it controls 10,000 square miles of land. The Feds control 50,000 square miles of unused land. Can you imagine those numbers?

In NH the only way you stop trees from growing is to pave over where they grew, build a house or other structure where they were, like what you live in.

The way you prevent that is having a market for them so periodic logging keeps it economical to keep the land forested.

Check out a place where an area hasn't been logged in a long time. Walk in Franconia notch straight up from the northbound Basin parking area, then straight down to the parking lot to avoid getting lost. It hasn't been logged since the cleanup of the 1938 hurricane. You will find very little sign of birds or animals. Nothing for them to eat. A desert of trees.

Then find a clear cut, from a year to 20 years ago. Be careful to not step in animal crap. Plenty of birds. A clear cut creates an animal cafeteria with all of the berries, young growth, etc. they need to eat.

The Indians solved this, if there weren't enough natural fires from lightning, by burning huge tracts of land so the hunting would be good again.

Prior to the 1900s, there was no way to fight wildfires. Without the biomass power plants there is little market for the "trash wood" that is not good for logs, firewood for houses or pulp.

If a landowner cannot recover enough money to at least pay taxes, he may have to sell the land to developers or develop the land himself into housing, industry, etc. Trees gone forever.

The lumber mill in Banks, Oregon is going to close. Banks has a population of 2000+. Fifty-six jobs that the mill supported will be gone.

I understand, they decided to close because of the Dept. of Forestry’s restriction on certain sizes of timber and that’s what the mill was geared up to use.

Never forget...the government is here to HELP YOU?

They are appointed by the Gov, which is what happens when you have 40 years of Dem rule.

Great reading the factual responses the pro lumber people provided. And naturally, when confronted with facts, the left ignores them.

I was wondering though. Since you have a taped statement that the goal of the leftists is to destroy the lumber industry, would it not be possible to file a class action against them because they are in a conspiracy to deprive citizens of their incomes and livelihoods? When they make adverse decisions, shouldn't they be required to file economic impact reports? Maybe a lawyer or group of lawyers can look at it from that point of view.
