His works are not “documentaries” in ANY traditional fashion. He cuts and pastes together what he wants, leaves out what he wants, places material out of its original context, solicits only what “witnesses” who will confirm a bias he starts with, denies witnesses who say differently, and only when his collection of stuff matches the narrartive he wants to deliver, then he has his “documentary”.

What I cannot understand is why any sane person still listens to the guy. He’s an idiot.

Your claim is that for centuries, Christians were trying to eliminate Jews. Expulsions and religious wars and persecution are less than that. Or, to put it another way, Jews who were expelled from Nazi Germany were relatively lucky compared to those who were put into extermination camps. At first, even Jews found the Holocaust so monstrous as to be beyond belief.

And, if you insist on putting history and factual distinctions into a blender for false rhetorical points against Christians, be prepared to deal with a similar tactic and to have to refute Palestinian claims that they are victims of Jewish persecution, from the Old Testament to today.

On a personal note, I and my family are staunch Catholics with close Jewish friends.

No, that is not at all what I contend. Michael Moore (and your apparent) view that White Christians are the "the true enemy" of the Jewish people is morally and historically absurd. Most troubling, you seem to ignore the unique evil of the Holocaust and of Muslim teachings and intentions to exterminate the Jewish people. Spaniards are white Europeans, actually. There is even a section that was considered to have been Gaelic. Of course, the Moors were there, too, but Spaniards and many Argentinians are white.

A respected but ethereal Jewish sage is pressed to explain his view that Jews should not welcome support from conservative Christians today even though they seem to be friendly toward Jews and genuine supporters of Israel. Finally, after every other claim is refuted, the sage draws upon his definitive argument: "What about the Cossacks?" The sage seems satisfied but his listeners are perplexed.

The point of course is that the distant past and possible future events can be used to confuse the issue at hand. What do we do with the facts and choices before us now? And in today's world, with friends at a premium, conservative Christians who are sincere supporters of Israel and friends of Jews should be embraced and welcomed as treasured allies in dangerous times.

In other words, forget about the Cossacks -- unless and until they somehow reappear from the mists of history. Otherwise Jews risk being befuddled and friendless in a crisis as Palestinians in Gaza hold Jewish hostages and their American supporters terrorize Jews on college campuses and city streets.
