New York Opens a Back Door to Communism
American Thinker ^ | 3 Mar, 2024 | John Green

Our founders saw our various states as places to experiment with governance. Each can test ideas to see what works and what doesn’t. Citizens can provide feedback by migrating to those places where things work the best.

I doubt that our founders expected an experiment to see if a communist state can coexist in a capitalist country. But New York has decided to conduct that experiment, seizing the means of production via lawsuits.

During her campaign, New York attorney general Letitia James made the Lavrentiy Beria pledge to find a crime and “get Donald Trump.” It turns out she’s a woman of her word.

James used a 1956 law (Section 63[12] of New York’s Executive Law) to sue Donald Trump. The law was created to enable the state to sue companies for profiting from fraudulent business practices. Until now, it has never been used where there are no damages (i.e., nobody was hurt). But as we know, legal traditions are expendable if they get in the way of a leftist’s objectives.

Attorney General James found a friendly judge, Arthur Engoron, to oversee the case. He somehow didn’t understand that his job isn’t to stick it to “the man,” but to make sure “the man” gets a fair hearing.

James argued that Trump had engaged in a pattern of fraud by describing his business assets in the most positive light when applying for business loans. She further argued that it was immaterial that the loans were repaid, and the so-called victims of the fraud (the banks) testified on Trump’s behalf that they had not been harmed.

The judge, being the savvy real estate speculator that he is, did his own appraisal of Trump’s assets, decided that James was correct, and ruled that disgorgement was the appropriate remedy....

That pesky constitution may get in the way. Marxism and the Bill of Rights are mutually exclusive. The marxists are the ones who should be sent to the gulag.

“...an experiment to see if a communist state can coexist in a capitalist country...”

China’s been doing the capitalistic system in a communist state, for at least a decade. And it’s worked well for them. No reason why NYS can do the reverse, with so many leftists/socialists/commies/Marxists/anarchists in that NYC hellhole.

A lot of rich businessmen who cross the CCP have been disappeared in China. James is a Maoist.

What the Chinese have is NOT capitalism. It’s government-controlled versus free enterprise.

Of course, we’re not much better here in the US these days, what with all the overbearing alphabet agencies in DC.

Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I’m singin’
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door

There’s a giant doin’ cartwheels, a statue wearin’ high heels
Look at all the happy creatures dancin’ on the lawn
Dinosaur Victrola, listenin’ to Buck Owens
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door

Tambourines and elephants are playin’ in the band
Won’t you take a ride on the flyin’ spoon? Dood-n-doo-doo
Wonderous apparition provided by magician
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door

Tambourines and elephants are playin’ in the band
Won’t you take a ride on the flyin’ spoon? Dood-n-doo-doo
Bother me tomorrow, today I’ll buy no sorrows
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door

Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Look at all the happy creatures dancin’ on the lawn
Bother me tomorrow, today I’ll buy no sorrows
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door

Communism is entering New York State by a back door? It is crawling in the windows, coming up from the cellar, and raining down from the sky.

New York City is becoming Bangladesh. And the state is not far behind.

In 1964, Barry Goldwater suggested the rest of New York simply saw off the boroughs that make up New York City and let it drift out to sea.

The traitorous NY Demonicrats have opened the back door, the side door, the windows, and cut a hole in the roof to let in the Commies.

As businesses flee New York, the standard of living in the state may likely decline. When businesses leave, it can lead to a decrease in job opportunities, reduced economic activity, and a decline in overall prosperity for the state's residents. Without a vibrant business climate, there may be fewer resources available to invest in public services and infrastructure, which can further impact the standard of living.

In such a situation, the appetite for the state taking of assets may increase. As the economy weakens, the government might be tempted to intervene more heavily and impose higher taxes or regulations to compensate for the loss of businesses and tax revenue. This could lead to a greater burden on individuals and hinder wealth generation.

When property and capital are diverted to government consumption rather than wealth generation, it can have long-term consequences for New York's future. In 50 years, the state might face a stagnant economy with limited entrepreneurial opportunities and reduced innovation. This could result in a less dynamic and prosperous society for its residents.

Maybe 6° of separation, these past few years.

There was a story in the WSJ recently about the huge number of apartments that are sitting vacant in NY because the landlords don’t want to invest in fixing them up for a new tenant with the rent caps so low since 2019.

You used to be able to invest some money in bringing them up to code, and thereby skirt the rent-increase limits. But now there is a cap on the increase allowed that is too low for most landlords to rationally rent them out anymore.

I think there is a solution to this, but no one has found it yet.

It's actually wide open at the lower levels - very little regulation and individuals are free to invent new ways to make money. Up to a point. When business owners start to become very successful they attract the interest of the CCP, who will make sure the growing business stays with the fascist lanes laid out for it.
