There is excellent news for the American industry, economy, and international trade sectors. The discovery of colossal rare earth deposits in Wyoming could essentially restructure the global supply chain of these crucial elements in the near future. A discovery of 2.34 billion metric tons of rare earth elements (REEs) in a mine outside of Sheridan, Wyoming, has generated great excitement across industries stateside. For one, the reserves are estimated to be bigger than China’s current reserves, implying that this single find could end America’s reliance on Chinese exports if exploited judiciously.

Helium is in short supply too and a new large deposit has been located in Northern Minnesota. I am certain the environmentalist whacko will keep this from ever being tapped.

We need rare earth elements for our cellphones up to and including our missle systems. We don't need to waste them on 6 year car batteries.

We’ve known the US has rare earth elements but mining it is dirty so the EPA will likely shut it down and we’re back to bowing down to BRICS. What’s even more aggravating is BRICS will continue to have their hands out for aid.

As with every word definition these days, it is actually the opposite. Same with “rare” earth minerals. They aren’t rare.

Count down: Biden to declare the area protected and designate it a National Park.

Don’t worry. The EPA and a Native American tribe will protect China

They are rare in the sense there aren’t large deposits easily extracted, at least not in the US. Aerospace applications use a lot of titanium and exotic alloys. Back when the government actually thought of such things, they maintained stockpiles of them for national security reasons. Importing exotic minerals from far flung places like the Congo meant America was subject to disruption, in a similar way to Rubber from Malaya during World War 2, the Japanese cutoff the supply almost completely.

Americans were prohibited from possessing more than five (5) tires, a national 35 mph speed limit, and gasoline rationing imposed, primarily to save tire wear.

Rare earth elements are not particularly rare.

But the processing is “dirty.” The Chinese don’t care much about pollution.

THAT is why the US and Europe let the Chinese own that market.
