Purchased cheaply at auction as a second edition with extensive Latin "marginalia" by an unknown hand, this copy of "De humani corporis fabrica" was found to have been Andreas Vesalius' personal copy, and the thousands of autograph notes were his revisions for a third edition that never saw publication, offering rare insight into the mind of one of history's most important scientists and teachers.Christie's

I always bought used books in college bookstore when available.
Not only were they cheaper, they had NOTES IN THEM on what to study for the tests!...............

If this one doesn’t have yellow highlighter marks, it must be a fake. ;^)

Skepticism is now part of the scientific method .. I wouldn’t be too sure about that.

This kind of single-minded focus was possible in an age with no distractions like the internet.

“Purchased cheaply at auction... In 2007 a retired Canadian doctor paid €13,200 (US$14,256)...”
Proving once again that everything is relative.

Thanks for the posting! This is great!
At the link, there was another link "Truth and Myth" by Dr. Daniel H. Garrison
Absolutely fun to watch, from a guy who so obviously enjoys his specialty, Andreas Vesalius, these enjoyable little snippets from the expert! Very short anecdotes (about 2-3 min each) that illustrate richly who Andreas Vesalius was as a man, and the times he lived in.
Just wonderful!

Ha, ha. Which century does the author think he is living in?

superseding Galen's work (circa 150 CE) I think that's 150 A.D.
Sorry if that offends some people.

Nah, too obvious!"

Skepticism is now part of the scientific method, but at that time, it was not. Seems we have regressed.
