The Houston Chronicle turned far left over 20 years ago. I subscribed back in the mid 1980s when it was a good paper. Now I won’t even read it for free on the interweb.

You are probably thinking of Lina Hidalgo, the Harris County Judge (basically the mayor of the county with no judicial functions). As far as I know she has never come out as a lesbian, but she is a far left Democrat.
