Bud Light loses crown as best selling Super Bowl beer - with Corona taking top spot after Dylan Mulvaney boycott

Bud Light found itself dethroned by Corona as Super Bowl champion in the battle of the beers as the embattled brand struggles to recover from the Dylan Mulvaney backlash.

Sales in bars and restaurants crashed to just half of last year's figure despite a half-time ad and months of concerted effort to steer away from the trans-friendly image that cost the brand nearly $30 billion.

Corona was the top-selling beer based on whole-day sales, according to data by restaurant engagement platform Union.

But Bud Light's parent company Anheuser-Busch InBev had some consolation as its Michelob Ultra brand notched up most sales during the game itself – helped by an intermission ad featuring soccer star Lionel Messi.

'We're listening, we're learning and we're continuing to move forward, which is how we're thinking about it,' said Anheuser's new chief commercial officer Kyle Norrington.

Last year, Bud Light has lost its place as America's best selling beer with sales still lagging behind Mexican upstart Modelo Especial.

Sales plummeted in April after transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney told her followers she had a tie up with the company which had sent her customized cans with her face on the tin.

Anheuser was forced to tell wholesalers that it would buy back unsold stocks as the retail price fell below that of bottled water in some outlets.

Musician Kid Rock, NFL player Trae Waynes and model Bri Teresi were among the high-profile faces expressing their disapproval, filming themselves shooting cans of the beer.

"Sales in bars and restaurants crashed to just half of last year's figure ..."

That's a pretty solid message. But I bet AB chooses to ignore it and continue to prove they were right with the Dylan debacle. I hope they do. I want to see if Americans are willing to crash and burn what was once the top seller for beer in the US.

The fact that shareholders haven’t been able to stage a revolt to fix this travesty is a clear indication that the federal government controls most of our corporations.

Constellation Brands has exclusive distribution of Corona in the US. Every where else in the world Corona is a product owned and distributed by Belgian firm InBev, which was formed by taking over Anheuser Busch beer, BudLight one of their many brands. So the loss of BudLite is little or nothing (except to that brands workers/mngmt).

Thank you for posting this from superbowl post data. Beer is beer, generally speaking.

InBev is Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV, commonly known as AB InBev.

A photo of some of the brand relationships in this huge world globalist conglomerate- which Anheuser-Busch is no longer a US American brand in any sense.

The calculation of that by AB is that AB owns both brands— Corona and BudLite.

Old joke is that one only rents beer. Brand shifting in beverages- this one is about like reformulation debacle that happened with Coca-Cola. Still all sugar water fizzie.

“I want to see if Americans are willing to crash and burn what was once the top seller for beer in the US. “

What may assist this is that the demon party continues to wipe their collective ass with the law in this persecution of Trump. That NY court has ratcheted up anger a lot and there is no indication that the demons are done. Anger is what moves people’s feet eventually.

C’mon, AB, we know you don’t want to shut down this brand and relaunch under a different label, but it’s been shown for almost a year that’s what you’re going to have to do. Give us that nice big scalp for our wall

Meanwhile, I don’t know the extent to which this fiasco caused it, but that infamous goofball Dylan Mulvaney has been conspicuously silent as of late

Corona is OWNED by InBev.Belgium. The same company that makes Budweiser.
The plants in Mexico import the beer to the USA only through Constellation Brands, a U.S. company (not InBev). It you buy Corona you are still supporting the InBev product line. InBev has the other selling rights for Corona beer around the world.
If you want to hurt InBev one has to stop buying ALL inBev products. There are at least 200 products. And there are many lists. Ya’ gotta bite the bullet..

Corona. Beer brewed by people so stupid they bottle it in clear glass.

If you have GERD, try drinking an O’Doul’s. Works like a charm for me.

'We're listening, we're learning and we're continuing to move forward, which is how we're thinking about it,' said Anheuser's new chief commercial officer Kyle Norrington.

The must be deaf, because their customers are screaming for a real apology and none was forthcoming. So too bad for them.

From Bud to Corona? Seriously? Two of the worst beers on the market. What’s wrong with people?

“If you have GERD, try drinking an O’Doul’s.”

Well, don’t know about O’Doul’s for GERD, but the best non-alcoholic beer I’ve found is Clausthaler Dry Hopped. Not only good, but cheaper than the other NA beers, a 6-pack $7.99 locally.

As far as Bud Light vs Corona, both a sad excuse for beer IMO.
