How different really, is use of navage or neti pots and being waterboarded? Asking for a terribly claustrophobic friend.

I’ve never enjoyed the privilege of being waterboarded, so I don’t know.

Never used Navage, either. The Neti systems are good - just an improvement on the old ‘country doctor’ advice to breathe salt water up your nose and then spit it out when it drains down into your throat.

You will not find a greater claustrophobe than I, but I regularly rinse my sinuses.

Wish I had discovered this procedure decades ago. Over the years, allergies caused so many sinus infections that I had scar tissue that showed up on scans.

Admittedly, the first few times I tried it were disconcerting, and it seems so counterintuitive to squirt water up one’s nose. But, trust me, it was really worth the initial apprehension.

I don’t think the waterboarding comparison holds up here because you are the one controlling how much water you get.
