The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you’ll be solving them all within a few days. If you’re stumped, take a break and return to it.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

First one ever photographed, and arguably the most intelligent in terms of pure intellectual power. Served as a translator for the American mission to Russia during the Revolution while in his early teens. (He was raised and schooled in Paris when his father lead the American mission to France. The diplomatic language of the day was French.)

He is probably best know (/irony) as the great-great-grandfather of former Raytheon president Charles Adams.
