Forget the Indians. Take their names off everything and consign them to history.

I think James Watt was the prototypical Scottish engineer.

they have incorporated our language and now want to tell us what words we can use... Ding ding ding! Allowing the Leftists to appropriate words and high-jack definitions have granted them great power that proper education would have countered. But who's allowed to dominate education?

Other than the fact that both of the Volvo’s I owned were constantly in the shop, I would buy a Viking Invader in a heartbeat.

This is white leftists pretending to be offended.

Don’t you know that the Indians had little Turquoise and Silver carvings of their Chief strapped to the foreheads of their ponies.
And car manufacturers appropriated that.
Then they put 4 wheels on the cars, copying the 4 legs of the pony.
And they did not use emission controls, as the Indians also did not.
To: Scrambler Bob
And they did not use emission controls, as the Indians also did not. No, they pretty much let their horses "emit" where ever they liked.

“I’m sure this comes from a place that is well-intended, but it does not honor us by having our name plastered on the side of a car…The best way to honor us is to learn about our sovereign government, our role in this country, our history, culture, and language and have meaningful dialogue with federally recognized tribes on cultural appropriateness.”Tribal politicians are politicians, therefore "our sovereign government" comes first.
But seriously, is anybody actually going to do any of that?
People would just as soon forget about the Cherokee entirely, so maybe team names and car names aren't that bad.

THE ONLY NEW CAR I ever owned was a 1965 Pontiac wagon.
Got it in Feb 1965-—sold it 30 years later with OVER 444,000 miles on it & same engine.
Wish I hadn’t sold it.

I named mine Christine. It didn't end well...

My first car was a car I bought because I could afford it - $250 - when I started college in 1968; a 1956 Pontiac Star Chief. Yes, it was not your typical college kids car, but I could afford it and it served me well, even when I could not serve it well.
