Genesis says man was to eat nothing but plants until Noah left the ark, then God said both plants and animals were ok to eat.
The body only cares about getting the nutrition. It doesn’t care about the source. It certainly would have been less work to grow a plant than to traverse hundreds of miles to capture a deer.
The only disadvantage of eating plants is that they are light in calories, so you will have to eat a lot more often to obtain the necessary calories.
