Shocking photos captured the chaotic and gruesome aftermath of a fatal dog attack where a man was mauled to death by his 13 pitbulls in his yard in Los Angeles.
LAPD officers were called to the home on the 900 block of Thorson Avenue, Compton, at 7am on Friday after a concerned friend went to the house and discovered his body.
Officials believe he was a breeder and had gone into the yard to feed the dogs on Thursday night when a fight broke out between the animals and they turned on him.
Helicopter footage showed his bloodied body lying face down in one of the enclosures in his yard while five adult pitbulls and eight puppies ran around and fought.
The man's identity has not been released, but neighbors told local news he was a 35-year-old man who lived alone.
His friend called police early on Friday saying 'her friend was seen in the backyard and appeared to have been mauled by his dog'.
Police, firemen and animal control then descended on the house, climbing over the roof to get to the yard and round up the dogs.
They found five adults and eight puppies - aged between four and six months - and corralled them into a neighboring yard to get to the man's body.
Meanwhile a woman who had somehow entered the yard tried to climb up a wall to get out and had to be helped by firefighters.
Michael Gomez with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau told KTLA5: 'He was feeding the dogs at which point maybe there was an altercation between some of the dogs and [they] ultimately attacked and mauled the victim.'
L.A. County’s Animal Care & Control said: 'Preliminary information suggests the deceased individual was involved in breeding and selling Pitbulls.'

I'm guessing this breeder supplied pit bulls to drug dealers and gangstas.
All the dogs should be euthanized. Either that or anyone who accepts a dog must assure authorities they will require their children to play with the dogs daily unsupervised so that Darwin’s Law can take effect.
Pit Bulls = Killers.
Sorry, pit bull owners, but it’s the truth. They’re unpredictable and can turn unexpectedly and kill. Many, many tragic examples, too many to count. Yes, some can be lovely but the breed itself harbors danger in its genetics.
If your breeding pitties in Compton you might be involved in dogfighting!
Just shoot them all.
The Dog of Peace.

Yep. Sure, the attitude of the owner plays a part. But at root, it’s a DNA thing. You can no more blame the dog than you can blame an anthrax bacterium. Nevertheless, neither belongs among humans.
If I lived near a guy who owned a pit bull, I’d spend zero time figuring out how to befriend the dog. Instead I’d be thinking about the minimum caliber needed if I were attacked.
he died doing what he loved
Sadly, they won't believe it until tragedy strikes them personally. I saw it when a family member's pit went after my daughter, a toddler at the time. Thank God I was there. The "Pittie" was most certainly a sweet, loving, well tempered dog. Until suddenly he wasn't. Family members present couldn't believe it. Something is just wrong with the breed.
Individual Pits are dangerous because they will randomly attack, like a switch is flipped. A pack of 13 in the same yard is just idiotic. Someone was bound to be killed eventually. At least in this case it was the owner.
Any working dog can kill humans. Just like guns the problem is the owner. I’ve never seen a Pit Bull that was properly handled, trained and supervised attack a person that wasn’t a threat. Pit Bulls need lots of attention. The kind of attention few people are willing to give, which makes life with the dog kind of a crap shoot.
Muslims of the canine world.
Excellent!
Now kill all the dogs, and this one problem is solved.
I’m not sure who I like less, the Pit Bulls or the psychos at the ASPCA, but I am sure the dogs will be put down.
Too bad the same can’t be said for the Mexican gangs in Compton.
Pit bulls and Compton sets off alarm bells for me.
It would seem so. Time and time again it’s the same story with pits.
Somehow I don't think 5 Golden Retrievers would get together and lick you to death. Unless you refused to throw the ball.
“Just like guns the problem is the owner.”
No stationary gun ever went off on its own.
“I’ve never seen a Pit Bull that was properly handled, trained and supervised attack a person that wasn’t a threat.”
That is a lot of conditions. The determination of what is a threat is made by a dog. The dog has to be supervised 24/7? There are other dog breeds. Why is this particular breed needed? There are better choices.
They don’t allow people in neighborhoods to keep pet lions and tigers—and pit bulls shouldn’t be allowed on other than large and well fenced-in farms. But really I don’t get the appeal of them there either.
My theory of a specialized handgun for big vicious dog (E.G.) American XL Bully, etc, defense in the absence of a shotgun, would be a smallish .44 special revolver loaded with custom shot loads containing number 4 or 2 shot, plated of course, traveling at... Whatever velocity.
To be carried discreetly when out walking the dog in the neighborhood.
Haven’t procured it yet though. The .38 special equivalent will have to do until one finds a bargain on a .44 somewhere...
