It’s a path that some women under a certain age, and of some minimal level of comeliness can choose. When we moved to FL in 2007 there was a notorious example of a woman schoolteacher who moonlighted on charter fishing boats as a deck mate, apparently wearing a bikini (and looking good while gaffing fish and hooking bait, perhaps retrieving beers.) When this work was revealed in the local paper she was fired as a teacher, and ended up doing porn. No idea how successful that was.
